Zelensky needs to step down, he’s shown he’s not interested in peace.

Unlike Putin who has shown that he’s committed to peace by *checks notes* violating multiple ceasefire agreements.

    2. Relative_Selection69 on

Some politicians campaign for re election; Zelenskyy offers himself up for the security of his people. Big fan!

    3. Lost_Writing8519 on

shame! foreign pressure by the US officials trying to decide the outcome of elections in a democratic european country at war. This is extremely shameful!

    4. Lost_Writing8519 on

What about Lindsey Graham saying you should step down?
” I will offer Lindsey Graham ukrainian citizenship, when he becomes one his voice might start to have more of a weight, as the outcome of election will be decided in Ukraine”
      Hahahaha excellent 🙂
I am happy he is calling out how undemocratic and authoritarian these calls for Zelensky resignation are. Who do you think the USA is ? a russia -type pariah tug? they wont stay rich with that attitude (except the few of them managing to seal all resources like putin does)

    5. ClitoIlNero on

Stepping aside is exactly what they want to do in order to steer elections and put their men there, Zelensky must stay where he is for.the.courage he has shown and because his people want him there

    6. DeadlyJewWitch on

Drastic difference. Ask politely, not push the pressure, not be a jerk and this guy naturally reciprocates. Americans, you voted for idiots.

Edit: even his interview on Fox was very different to what we saw in the white house.

    7. outsideroutsider on

He should have had a translator during his visit with Trump.

    8. Feisty_Ad_4554 on

Europe urgently needs to do the following:

      1. Create the perception that Ukraine/Zelensky is winning the war. Trump hates losers and kicks them when they’re down, compulsively needs to side with the winners. Putin has misled Trump into believing his military is highly capable, even that the Russian economy has big opportunities for American companies.

      2. Create a EuroPAC. Seriously. The ROI is astronomical. Today. Israel, through AIPAC, has ironclad support in the US because through their PAC they punish any politician who’s critical of Israel with attack ads and they finance the campaigns of primary opponents. Get some of the best European diplomats to Washington. Plenty of nice houses coming onto the market in Fairfax, VA these days…

    9. EconomyEmbarrassed76 on

America trying to tell Ukraine how and when it should hold elections, who should run the country and whether they should fight against an invading nation while demanding “respect” is the most hypocritical horseshit in modern history.

    10. pcblkingdom on

No matter what you think of Zelenskiy’s politics or his handling of the war, it’s hard to come away from these interviews not liking him. At a time when so many world leaders seem so detached from reality and vacuous, he communicates himself as very clever and very sincere.

Smart move. This idea (his chair for NATO membership – and he needs to be careful because NATO is not that trustable anymore) breaks up the narrative Trump took from Putin or came up with (it’s Russia’s propaganda style), that he is a dictator that skipped elections, and have no legitimacy to be part of the negotiations for ending the war in Ukraine – yet, he have the legitimacy to sign for giving up 50% of Ukraine’s minerals?

There is another plan Putin and Trump have (they talk a lot these days). To force elections in Ukraine and to make it so that the new president is somebody convenient for them both (one to get the resources as payment – three times plus more than what they paid – for the war financial help, and the other one to have somebody to boss around, somebody that would not want to be part of NATO and EU, and that would be ok to give some territories to Russia) – conditioning the end of the war in such way so their favourite candidate would win the elections, and so enslaving Ukraine for many years and generations to come (and they have some unfortunate and tragic experience with that – https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor).

      **For who needs extra clarification.**

The war was started by Russia with the complicity of Belarus, and the two sides are:

Ukraine (for survival, independence and democracy) and Europe (for keeping the Russia’s danger away, as far as it is possible) and Allies (because they like to help their democratic friends that would do the same for them).

      vs

Russia (to keep NATO away, for a less democratic word and imperialistic ambitions) and US (for resources and imperialistic ambitions) and Allies (because they like to help their dictators friends that would do the same for them).

    12. UnComfortable_Fee on

It’s amazing that so many Conservatives think he wants to remain president, dude just wants a quiet life of peace

    13. CriticalJellyfish207 on

      I love this man.

I would step down for Ukrainian NATO membership because then I would have served my purpose and secured lasting space for my people. Omg ❤️. What a hero!!!

But you angered the USA and they are calling for you to step down, what will you do?. Well I will give them Ukrainian citizenship and then I will hear their opinion as Ukrainian citizens. ❤️ That is how you stand up to unjust power. What a hero!!!

    15. supersonic-bionic on

Whether u like him or not, he is the best leader Ukraine could have had in such difficult moment for the country.

Any other leader would have resigned

    16. rolyamSukCok on

I’ve learned so much about business and being a leader watching Zelenskyy. Amazing.

    17. FluffyDeer9323 on

He is just an infinitely better human being than any of those pricks in the White House.

    18. Bizhammer on

Can’t say enough about how much I respect that man..

Hey america, this is what real leadership looks like…

    19. Frankje01 on

so if you’re Putin..what’s your play. You know you are not going to force the EU into a situation they absolutely dont want. Is he hoping Trump abandons NATo and the US burns basically all brdiges with most of its allies for at least this administration. And then he joins the EU on the negotiantable to get a deal where we are more partnered with Russia and the US stands alone?

He cant do this with the US since it is very likely a next president is abandoning such a partnership.
The EU is trickier since we are nieghbours and I think we have always wanted to have a tleast a neutral and non hostile relationship with Russia.

      What do you guys think?

    20. Mr_Zeldion on

      Ask yourself.

Would Kier Starmer step down as Prime Minister for the UK’s best interests?

Would Trump stand down as president if the people believed that was in America’s best interests?

      Would they hell.

Zelenskyy is a man that while his country is at war is telling the world that if his people get the security guarantee of Nato he will stand down.

That is a leader. Putting its people first.

I don’t believe it’s an option really as Nato want anything but Ukraine to join them because it means they need to finally put actions where their god dam mouths are and fight a fachist dictator like they’ve said they would each remembrance day since world war 2.

But still, I admire any leader that would sacrifice his power and position for the good of his people.

    21. Earthling63 on

This guy has been thru so much, hard to believe how much his life changed since he was just known as an actor/comedian. Also hard to believe he felt he needed to say nice things about Graham. Shameful what he went thru here with Putins lap dogs.

    22. National-Change-8004 on

It’s exhausting just to look at the Russia/Ukraine conflict as it is, I can’t imagine being at the center of it. Sadly it’s hard to have hope. It seems much of Russia support Putin; they believe he was right, and that “the west” coming to aid Ukraine is proof of that. “How would you feel if every other country had their guns pointed at you all the time?” *This coming from the country that took Crimea and Donbas by force. I fucking wonder why NATO exists, hmmmmmm??*

Nope. Russia’s political landscape needs a severe douching, ideally. They would have to rebuild, again, a small price to pay in the fight against imperialism.

What’s even more frustrating is this talk of “western values” somehow being the problem, as if the US government isn’t now *ideologically aligned* with the Kremlin.

    23. 5050Clown on

I can’t be president of Ukraine because I would have drawn a map to where Lindsey Graham could put his opinion on who should be President of Ukraine.

It would be a map to his asshole.

    24. Let me tey and be as simplistic as I can about this: forcing Zelenskyy out is exactly what Russia needs to win this war. This entire debacle abour Zelenskyy being a dictator is because Putin found an adversary that the public opinion, both inside Ukraine and in Europe, is simply too positive for. Ukraine will keep getting support from all these countries with a good leader like Zelenskyy. Only with him out does Putin (and Trump for that matter) stand a chance of getting his other goals in Ukraine.

    25. SinisterCheese on

It’s good that Zelensky is using a translator here. However… I feel like the translator isn’t really that on-top their game, probably had to get one in a hurry so it is probably some assistant or officer that is part of the entourage. Proper skilled real time translators and absolutely insane linguistic machines, who can just listen and translate without a thought or delay especially when they are also observing the speaker.

It is REALLY damn hard to do, and whenever I have had to translate real time (no, I’m not a translator, but often Finnish-English-Finnish is required in my job as an engineer who is primarily on-site with international personelle) it basically exhausts my brain within 10-15 minutes; and I really can’t do it unless I observe the person speaking to get the nuances. Reminds me of those high school drama classes where we had the exercise where one has to echo the other speaker, and when you got good at it you’d sync up so much that you’d basically speak same time and echo can predict what the lead is going to say.

    26. cinematic_novel on

Eventually he will have to leave. But I hope he will remain as a minister maybe

    27. StinkyPotato25 on

Can someone explain why everyone is so hung up on elections in Ukraine? I understand democracy and if it’s past the term limit yes but also, ya know, invasion? Isn’t it wise to keep the same commander in chief especially since by most accounts he’s doing a pretty good job and his popularity just skyrocketed? Is it illegal for him to continue as president? If it is then isn’t that a different conversation?

    28. Multivariable_Perch on

I mean that ship has sailed for at least as long as Trump is in office

    29. This is so heartbreaking. That ambush was so unnecessary. Trump’s tantrums.. and JD Vance’s whining… Well I got there 5 minutes of fame.. a stupid show.. but they cost America, reputation and honor.

    30. wombat6168 on

Let’s face it the ones calling for him to resign are Putin’s puppets, many controlled by trump but still Putin’s puppets. No one can call for a democratically elected president to be changed who is not a citizen of that country. I call for trumps resignation those idiots calling for zelensky to go wouldn’t listen to me, we do not listen to them

When peace finally comes to Ukraine, regardless if Zelenskyy stays or not, he will be immortalized in history for what he has done to help his country.

    34. noirproxy1 on

This whole re-election, resign BS is literally Trump’s whole thing to make Ukraine lose the person on a high enough level so the country itself falls.

Zelensky shoeluodnt even be humouring this stuff anymore and why western journalists keep asking him over and over is flipping exhausting. He has a country under attack and severely just wants his people living pre-Invasion. That should be the focus and instead we are discussing relection campaigns.

What the fck is this world coming to?

    35. Handyrouston on

So in other words he won’t leave power peacefully. They can’t hold elections because he has to be in it?? Holy shit hello that’s what dictators say. He refuses to give up power through elections. He doesn’t want to hold elections because he knows he won’t win an actual free election. That’s why he outlawed every opposing political party in his country. But do continue to support on dictator while complaining about another dictator.

    40. SnooPears6771 on

Zelensky will be known historically in a completely different category of leaders, from what we, today, are accustomed. His style of leadership is light years ahead of Drumpf, Putuni (Putin), Netanyahu (deep-throated goon, rightfully-earned – considering his style of choking)

Real question: how would Europe and Ukraine ensure a proper election that doesn’t result with a Russian stooge?
