As an American, no. Russia isn’t taking over the U.S., that’s giving Russia way too much credit to what’s happening in the U.S. Russia is too convenient as an excuse, what you’re seeing a return to American isolationism in the world stage.
People forget that America, for its history, has largely been isolationist. It was semi-forced to join WWII, too late on both accounts. It is absolutely in Putin’s interest to see that happen, but it’s really only throwing tinder on an already growing fire.
We’re too distant from most of the world to realize how much we need them, and we’re too dumb to realize “American exceptionalism” was a product of a brotherhood of nations, not because we’re so star spangled awesome.
It’s a hard lesson we’re going to have to learn, and Putin has very little to do with that.
