You’d think they’d lead with a decline in murder, but no.

I wonder how accurate this actually reflects crime rates. The problem with crime statistics is that, for smaller crime especially, what Garda focus on or rates of people reporting crime influences it more than actual crime.

If Garda focuses less energy on drugs, then drug crime statistics goes down. Same if people don’t bother reporting theft, or start bothering more Tom report theft.

    4. Honestly seems like an unbelievable amount of murder mast 6th months.

But Ireland reddit told me random assaults in Dublin were up a whopping 900%????

Unsurprising about the weapons offences being up. Knife crime in the UK has been steadily rising over the last 10 years. We’re just a few years behind them. It’s a vicious cycle to break because the more people perceive the streets to be dangerous the more people start arming themselves. The London Met have had a torrid time trying to tackle it. The Gardai have no idea whats coming.

Seems about right. Garda are getting a bit more invested in stopping crime related murders but are lacking on preventing more common crime.

Percentages are misleading, there should be actual figures.

12% reduction might mean that only 8 people were murdered instead of 9.

a 12% reduction in say traffic crime would be a big reduction, if it was a reduction of 1000 in 9000.

    9. Dont know it its just me & my partner but any time we have ever tried to report a crime in a station the Garda has thrown it in the bin the minute we left, always told a pulse number cant be given and would have to come back, and when we do just told no one available to get it.

Figures are inaccurate due to Gardai refusing to log reports in my opinion
