      Hello my fellow Germans (I am not German), the New York Times has been subject to ideological capture in recent years. They’re supposed to be the paper of record in the United States but they aren’t serving that purpose very well at all. Neither in that country nor any other. In fact, the NYT is a shell of what it once was, which makes it more than a little bit fucking alarming that it’s the most credible paper in the US right now.

      I am not a conservative, nor a German, nor would I have supported Merz even if I could have been involved in such an election (one I watched consistently), but his recognition of things being what they are is admirable. In that sense, he was needed.

      I’m not saying he’s great. I’m not saying it makes up for anything else about him. I’m simply saying he recognizes the uncomfortable realities of the situation that the NYT has no perspective whatsoever on.
