The UK has enough Plutonium for everybody and the French make their own ICBMs/submarines. They accept cheque or credit card.

    2. WorldSuspicious9171 on

Just for shits and giggles, and the Canadians will probably agree this is to fun to pass up on.

      We put them in Greenland.

(Seriously I’m not a big fan of poking other nuclear capable nations, they should be only a deterrence, I lived through one Cold War, that was enough)

    3. Cultural-Prompt3949 on

Why not? UK and Canada and in fact Canada and France have huge ties. This could be a mutually beneficial arrangement for sure.

    4. FluffnPuff_Rebirth on

China proved that you don’t need that many nukes to have a deterrence. For as long as in theory if you shot all your nukes towards a few cities and you could guarantee that those got hit – you have nuclear deterrence.

Like, yeah. USA would turn Europe into ash and glass, but if that comes with the cost of losing New York, Miami and Atlanta, then that for sure is much more of a deterrence than the usual “Strongly worded letter from EU.”

Difference between “no nukes” and “some nukes” is huge.

    5. Lazyjim77 on

A commonwealth Defence Pact should be offered to Canada, Australia and New Zealand that officially extends the British nuclear umbrella to them.

    6. Stunned-By-All-Of-It on

As a Canadian, we need to do something and fast. We need true support from our real friends, too. The enemy is literally on our front…and back door. The new Axis of Russia and the USA have us surrounded. If they erase Canada, Europe is next.

    7. Professional-Cry8310 on

Just to be clear, this isn’t “Canada”, this is a candidate to become prime minister. She’s not likely to win.

      Very misleading headline.

    8. nnhuyhuy on

This’s how much of a global liability Trump’s become

    9. heartbeatsl3ft on

The French nuclear shield could be expanded to include Canada. The UK particularly has an obligation to ensure the security and sovereignty of Canada. All this “joking” of making Canada the 51st state shouldn’t be treated so lightly.

I worry what may be said at tonight’s State of the Union, especially since Trump just announced a huge crackdown on any colleges that allow “illegal” protests and the imprisonment/deportation of instigators. Canada needs to shore up its security ASAP.

    10. CaptchaSolvingRobot on

One and a half months of Trump’s presidency and Canada is trying to get nukes.

I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality. America sure is “great” lately.

Wonder how many nations are gonna be breaking the non proliferation agreements in the near future.

    11. Murica_Chan on

just like that, US got their 2nd cuban crisis but this time, really fucking close

      Good job Trump

    12. Mohelanthropus on

What does Putin have on this guy? Pee tape?
What’s going to happen to the B61 nuclear bombs in Turkey, Incirlik?

    13. ouattedephoqueeh on

Canadian here – yes pls. Just extend the umbrella for a few months while we make our own (we have the capacity/abilities to do so with assistance from the UK or France).

We’re now entering the age of Nuclear Proliferation. Things are about to get really fucking weird.

    14. Zealousideal_Ear9156 on

Just that the UK nuclear weapon relies on American technology.

I’m not sure if America has a kill switch function or something like that, but I’m also not going to deny it. The F-35 could also have that.

As for France, I’m not sure. Macron would support Canada, but it’s also another shitty situation next to the ongoing one.

Threatening a country like the US, the largest military in the world, with the ongoing NATO issues and everything, could face political backlash.

Also, the US still has their nuclear weapons on Germany and other bases all around Europe.

Would be quite… Well, you know, it’s not effective if you look from it from a different perspective.

A threat like that wouldn’t work, and the US can not leave the Nato as well, per Congress, as it requires 2/3 of the majority for it.

Also, nobody can kick the US out. They’re also basically in charge of everything. NATO commander is always an American.

NATO, under the premise to protect us, could also become our very own threat.

Jesus… What a messed up timeline.

    15. Euphoric-Order8507 on

As a vet and American i will not be taking arms against Canada or Mexico. America is the aggressor what good is national pride when your nation isn’t something to be proud of

    16. Due_Professional_894 on

I think Canada can develop nukes fairly quickly. They should start immediately.

    17. Ok-Chapter-2071 on

France and the UK protecting Canada would come full circle.

    18. True_Inxis on

I’m not from UK or France, but I’d put every nuke necessary in Canada, and in every other ally that feels like they need it.
We as the whole Alliance must invest in our nuclear umbrella ASAP. And we shall make it the biggest in comparison to all the other menaces.

    19. EyeOfTerra on

Let’s secure those nukes instead of eyeing them. Canada needs a deterrent now more than ever.

    20. lessergooglymoogly on

The only problem with this is we would have to be ready to nuke an American city
which one makes sense? It’s unthinkable. Also, they’d glass our cities in return and that doesn’t sound like winning.

I’d rather be a country with Nukes than without

That Canada is seen as needing nuclear deterrent to protect from Trump should be seen as a wake up call to the US populace. Y’all should Serbia smoke bomb the SOTU.

    21. BadgerPhil on

It seems to me that the U.K. should lease a trident sub with nukes to Canada at cost price.

The deal says Canada can press the button on any aggressor without U.K. approval. The other part of the deal is that should the U.K. ever press the button that Canada joins us.

This way Canada is safe and the U.K. has the same coverage for less cost.

    22. PeanutMurky4094 on

Taking trumps rambling on Canada this seriously is insane. The US populace and congress would never allow actual aggression against Canada and if you strongly think otherwise I advise touching some grass. Seriously, is it mostly bots in here trying to stir the pot? It seems like everyone is losing their minds.

    23. PepperoniPieGuy on

Yes!!! As a Canadian I don’t want to be conquered and added to the axis of evil war machine. The US is going to have a difficult time surviving on its own but if they enslave/stripmine canada and turn mexico into forced labour farms, the world will have a much bigger problem on their hands.

    24. Bar50cal on

We don’t want to be given Quebec any ideas if we give them a few French nukes
      /s

    25. SergeLdn on

Better to try France. Trident is dependent on the US, which is a problem in itself for the UK.

    26. silverdart-ca on

For them to build more cars in the Us they need to build factories. It will take more than 4 years for that to get into production.

    27. Remember what happened the last time a Castro eyed up another nation’s nukes?

    28. atzucach on

We need to stop saying things like “_Trump_ threat”. The threat is not Trump as a person, it’s the power of the US government which he controls. The threat is from the government of the USA.

    29. FullMaxPowerStirner on

That’s… not something you talk about openly.

    30. Icy-Needleworker-492 on

Trump has put the planet into the position where every country is starting to arm itself with nuclear weapons.Making the whole world less safe.Denuclearization much safer.

    31. Competitive-Split389 on

The pathetic defeatism in this thread is sad.

What happened Europe did your balls drop off?

So America is unreliable now? Good. Build your own defense networks. Stop spending countless billions on feel good projects and defend your people.

It is just simply pathetic that 500 million Europeans are demanding that 300 million Americans defend them from 140 million Russians.

    32. Visible_Raisin_2612 on

Just look at Israel, North Korea, Russia or Pakistan. No one dares to attack them for the simple reason that they have nuclear bombs. Canada has no choice, its army is no match, only a powerful deterrent force will work in our favor. And we must establish laws like France indicating that we will not hesitate for a second to use them, that we would rather annihilate the north of the continent than live under a dictatorship of mentally retarded people who believe that the earth is flat.

    33. irritatedCurmudgeon on

Yes. Canada needs a nuclear deterrent. Trump absolute would launch military strikes against Canada in retaliation for the tariffs.
