Been reading these headlines for some time, but I know lots of very well qualified people, with both experience and educational attainments, who are really struggling to even get interviews. This is across a few different industries too. I have helped some with CVs and similar, so I know that they are in decent shape there too.
So whats going on – am i letting my handful of experiences misinform me and these are atypical experiences – or are these numbers being fudged – or what?

I have never been served a pint by somebody who looked like that in Ireland. The Irish Times should be ashamed. Surely there are stock images of an auld fella pouring a pint of Guinness.

I will predict that this is a dead cat bounce and unemployment will quickly rise…
The fundamentals are really bad, From pressed service and manufacturing sector to a construction sector in contraction to a restaurant crisis, falling/declining tourism…
Throw in Trump tarriffs and corporation tax plans and all I will say is enjoy this honey moon period…it will be 6% before you know it…
Throw in the rising/record homeless rate and this “3.9” unemployment data does not pass the smell test imo…

The definition that economists use to define Full Employment is bullshit, which deliberately keeps a persistent level of unemployment even at ‘Full Employment’.
Otherwise workers would gain greater bargaining power over employers – and that’s not acceptable to a worker-hostile government or business interests.
