Good. Ukraine can use more leverage
This was a month ago. Did kaliningrad disappear, possible not heard about them for a while.
Can’t Lithuania just cut the gas now? Let russia deal with it, the benefit of russia was the support and stability, if they can’t guarantee security of things like food, power or defence then people leave the orbit (see US as a recent example).
If you need LNG then I’m sure Canada might have a few surplus barrels soon.
Russia really likes cyberattacks against critical infrastructure. I wonder how good security at Kaliningrad plants is?
Where? You must mean Königsberg (/ˈkɜːnɪɡzbɜːrɡ/; German: [ˈkøːnɪçsbɛʁk] ⓘ; lit. ’King’s mountain’; Polish: Królewiec; Lithuanian: Karaliaučius; Baltic Prussian: Kunnegsgarbs; Russian: Кёнигсберг, romanized: Kyónigsberg, IPA: [ˈkʲɵnʲɪɡzbʲɪrk])
Estonian Russian speaker here.
You would not believe the amount of crying the local vatniks have been talking about how this action will tripple our electricity bills.
We haven’t bought any from Russia since the war started, it’s just a frequency change…
I am not pro russian, but this is not a smart move.
Isolation KG right now at this point in time is a hard gamble.
It’s Królewiec/Kralovec.
Königsberg
You mean Königsberg?
This is the part of Europe which can Trump take.
I know this feels justified, but I’m not convinced this is the right time. Being cut off might motivate Russia to invest into Kaliningrads energy infrastructure. So in case Russia should ever invade the Baltic states, Kaliningrad will be more resilient. I think it might have been better to keep them somewhat reliant on their neighbors, so a cold cutoff in case of war is more effective.
Baltics must allow Ukraine to occupy Kaliningrad 👆
