Every time you see the HSE’s response to this they say something like ‘staff numbers have increased’ without ever acknowledging that demand is increasing and the HSE loves to put out directives about how existing staff should be providing new additional services without any additional resources. They also love to ignore the fact that those numbers of ‘full-time staff’ often include posts that are ‘filled’ by people on long-term leave or are whole-time equivalent posts made up of multiple people doing part-time admin work to the letter of the job description without ever covering aspects of the job that their predecessor did, which are now falling on clinical staff.
