I say we say our aid to them in Afghanistan and Iraq was a loan too and we demand its repayment

    2. DodSkonvirke on

Nice burn. “you haven’t said thank you” “you haven’t said thank you” “you haven’t said thank you”

    3. Poopheadasshat on

I’d happily be for quadripeling our cost of living (instead of what has happened) to make amends with Europe while Donald sits in the corner watching Melania and Trudeau. Put your two inches to work in your own hands, trump!

    4. Fuck you France you ruined my rugby weekend!! 🇮🇪🇮🇪👍🇫🇷🇫🇷

Seriously though, without French intervention America wouldn’t be an independent nation.

They were getting slaughtered prior and England just decided there wasn’t enough upside to fight the French over.

Even American textbooks show England winning more battles while listing various French generals that actually won it for them.

    6. blue__nick on

Have they said thank you recently? They should be doing it hourly.

    7. a987789987 on

Whole U.S independence was pretty much inspired and fuelled by the French, ergo U.S is in actually French. Use this to annoy them.

3/4 of Americans don’t know what he’s talking about. Jesus created America in 1776 when he defeated the Russians with Reagan.

    9. original12345678910 on

Didn’t the Americans actually agree to a loan during the revolutionary war?

And then, after France had secured their existence as a country, the US backed out of the deal and refused to pay?

    10. Fichtenwald on

In addition to paying back the 150 trillion, they also need to say “Thank you” and show some gratitude.

    11. Flaky-Jim on

Or the Louisiana Purchase was a bad deal, requiring the US to give France more money or the land back.

    12. AxiomaticSuppository on

Everyone knows Donald doesn’t honour his debts.

America would’ve been better off as a British colony anyway.

If i was macron i would only ask the Statue of Liberty’s torch back. That way it would look like she’s making an Elon salute.

    15. For those wondering, this is not an official or genuine statement at all, just an individual initiative.

    16. ladeedah1988 on

Ah, but France, Germany, and Britain didn’t pay back loans from WWI.

    17. Basement_Chicken on

That’ll put things in perspective for the Trumpty Dumbty.

    18. Flippohoyy on

And he is wearing a suit so there is nothing trump can do but to obey now

    19. StillRecognition4667 on

Oh – and how about WWII- all the money France gave to the US.?

    20. PinusMightier on

Wasnt the funds given by France already loans? Pretty sure they were. No one historically has ever just given free money away till the US

    21. capt-on-enterprise on

🤣🤣🤣🤣 there are tears of laughter flowing down my face!!! France, PLEASE send a bill to that orange turd in the White House. Please!

    22. jessiezell on

USA are dicks. Statue should be given back to France and then given to Ukraine as a BIG FU!

    23. Structureel on

The treaty giving New Amsterdam to the English (who renamed it New York) was illegitimate. We want our colony back!

    24. Jebediah__ on

The debt between France and the US was settled in 1795, this isn’t a gotcha. We understood at the time it was a loan as well.

    25. give_mom_a_call on

For people taking this halfway seriously, it actually was a loan, and America already paid it back in the 1700s.

I know its a joke but it takes like 3 seconds to Google it.

    26. nnhuyhuy on

Allez, payez, Oncle Sam, avec les intérêts. Et pas question de faire défaut, sinon on récupère la Statue de la Liberté direct, sans préavis.

    27. marinervvv on

You expect Trump to pay back loans of any kind.

He won’t even pay the loans he has taken, let alone the ones his ancestors took.

    28. LouisWu_ on

Thank you France for bringing some humour to this disaster we are all in. Surrounded by Russia on both east and west.

    29. gamesarefunyounerds on

It *was* a loan. Over $2 million actually. Lot of money back then, bankrupted the French and was one of the proximate causes for the Revolution there. And USA paid off those debts in the 1790s.

    30. Past_Contour on

I wish the USA weren’t starting WW3, but here we are. Sorry yall, I didn’t vote for him, a lot of us didn’t and we are appalled and scared.
