The D ticket will allow you to use public transport in the cities you visit. Are you booking ICEs for the long distances or what

Yes you will need multiple trains in case they break or something happens on the rails

Buying the 50€ ticket is probably worth it for getting around in the city’s but traveling between the city’s will take you at least twice the time maybe even more because you are not allowed to travel by IC/ ICE with this ticket

I would do €50 plus ICE inter-city tickets bought well in advance.

€50 ticket means you can take public transport in the cities plus regional trains between cities.

Regional trains are super slow and you’re better off buying ICE tickets for inter city travel imo.

Given you’re coming in April you should ideally buy them now so you don’t have to pay extra when you buy them late. They get pretty expensive if you buy them close to your travel date.

    5. It will be a good idea for getting around in the cities.

For the trips from one city to another you need IC or ICE, which is not covered by the Deutschlanticket. (Which btw. costs 58€)

But, still having it for travelling within the cities is still a good enough reason.

For comparison, I just looked up possible routes for next Tuesday:

Frankfurt -> Munich with ICE is about a 4h ride.

Frankfurt -> Munich with Deutschlandticket is about a 6h ride and you have to change trains at least once, more likely twice.

But the real problem will be Munich -> Berlin

bit less than 5h by ICE; 10 to 11 hours by regional trains, with changing trains at least thrice (can get up to 7 times)

(Berlin -> Frankfurt is comparable to that, just half an hour to an hour less)

But the downside of course will be the price.

A single ticket for the ICE will be somewhere around 50 to 100€. With the price depending on so many different factors, that the apparent randomness of prices for train tickets, is part of some jokes and a guaranteed hit for any stand-up routine.
