      > Rubio accused Sikorski of “making things up” and suggested he was ungrateful, saying, “No-one has made any threats about cutting Ukraine off from Starlink.” He added, “Say thank you because without Starlink Ukraine would have lost this war long ago and Russians would be on the border with Poland right now.”

      > Musk backed Rubio, calling his comments “absolutely correct.” In response to Sikorski, Musk wrote, “Be quiet, small man. You pay a tiny fraction of the cost. And there is no substitute for Starlink.”

      > Sikorski defended Poland’s position, stating, “Starlinks for Ukraine are paid for by the Polish Digitization Ministry at the cost of about $50 million per year.” He added, “If SpaceX proves to be an unreliable provider we will be forced to look for other suppliers.”

      > A Polish foreign ministry spokesperson countered, saying Starlink “was not an act of charity” and that Poland “paid a subscription.”

      > Meanwhile, shares in Eutelsat soared as much as 650% amid speculation it could replace Starlink, though they ended the week up around 380%.

    2. ArtemisJolt on

For what? Poland is paying for the Starlink contract, the thank you is the money they’re paying

    3. Agitated-Airline6760 on

So Poland pays for Starlink AND also have to say thank you??

    4. unboring-recycle on

We are all part of an ungrateful family, and unfortunately for Rubio it is going to get bigger and bigger.

    5. Soft-Mongoose-4304 on

Rubio is in deep trouble with Trump for how he acted during the Zelesnky meeting and he’s trying to get ahead of it now

    6. Thank you for showing my country what a rat you are, Marco. Thank you for showing us that we cannot trust USA. Thank you for making us focus more on Europe.

    7. Otherwise-4PM on

It’s easy for Rubio to joke around. I bet he’s able to receive signals from aliens with his ears, not just the internet.

    8. schmeckfest on

Rubio is supposed to be the “normal one” in this administration…

      Imagine that.

      What’s wrong with these people?

    9. QuasimodoPredicted on

Is that how you treat your customers? No wonder you have trade deficit with EU and China.

    10. Routine_Service6801 on

Honestly the tipping culture in America is getting out of hand… They keep expecting these gratuities for stuff we already paid for. It’s bordering disease at this point.

Like i said in the other thread that got deleted.

At this rate Dassault will have some more orders, thanks US as always, hope you are ready to be behind France in arms sells at the end of Trump mandate.

    12. I have something else to say… **fuck you Elon, fuck you Trump and fuck you Rubio!**

There you go, there’s the thanks you deserve.

    13. Wonderful-Basis-1370 on

What’s up with these guys demanding a ‘thank you’ from everyone like we got a generational debt to ‘em?

    14. Sendflutespls on

Maybe we should just hire either psychopaths or people with a shaming kink, to lead a new bureau under the EU, their sole purpose would just be saying sorry and thank you to the Americans. Let’s try to be practical about this idiocy.

    15. IndividualSkill3432 on

I dont think people realise just how infantile this administration is. People think Trump is a Russian agent or something. Nope. He is that delusional he admires Putin and thinks by doing his bidding they will become allies against China.

Musk is in the middle of some kind of mental breakdown. Literally offering to fight Putin because somehow he thinks People with million man armies and nuclear arsenals settle their differences wrestling random tech bros.

I have heard the theory that Rubio is just going along with the Ukraine thing as he wants to be in the room when China starts kicking off. Id say that fits his body language, he has to eat shit here to get to be around in 2 years when Taiwan is the big thing. Though like everything you can take that with a mountain of salt.

    16. Dietmeister on

The US should say thank you for us sacrificing our soldiers lives in Afghanistan and Iraq.

    17. ClitoIlNero on

Musk you turn off Starlink and then you deal with the SBU. And then the entire western world would no longer buy a single one of your ‘dishes’, it would implode in your hands like a balloon full of shit

    18. Kill_Switch87 on

Rubio threatening that Russia would be on the polish border right now is just fresh.

Isn’t trump’s argument on Russia that he doesn’t think Putin will attack anyone else and will respect a future ceasse fire? 0 consistency with these people.

    19. NecessaryDoctor4512 on

Rubio, the bigot with a big fat black cross on his forehead in a public speach no less, is the one to talk. USA should ask for a lease on the name Novarassia.

Thank you USA, for letting me use the American Reddit on an American iPhone I paid for

    23. randorolian on

Getting into position with the ‘they’re not giving us enough grovelling thank yous’ so that they can use Starlink as a bargaining chip in the ‘peace’ talks if Zelensky dares to stray from the Trump-approved line, I see.

The world needs to remove itself from any sort of dependency on the USA and let it fall into the hole it’s digging deeper for itself. The sooner the USA is no longer relevant to world politics the better.

My government has me rooting against the country I love. It hurts.

    30. JoLeTrembleur on

See, I always thought Vance’s number against Zelensky in the Oval Office could be explained by his own invisibility and his desire to exist faced to Musk’s media prominence.

On a side note, for all the History buffs down here, Trump’s ways of management seem to be (so far) very similar to Hitler’s ones: to let the wolves under him to upstage each-others and to devours themselves as long as top one rises. A wiki quote:

‘Top officials reported to Hitler and followed his policies, but they had considerable autonomy. Officials were expected to “work towards the Führer” – to take the initiative in promoting policies and actions in line with his wishes and the goals of the Nazi Party, without Hitler having to be involved in the day-to-day running of the country. He often deferred making decisions, avoided clear delegation and allowed subordinates to compete with one another, especially in the pre-war years. The government was not a coordinated, co-operating body, but rather a disorganised collection of factions led by members of the party elite who struggled to amass power and gain the Führer’s favour.’

This whole ameican entitlement thing needs to stop. There is a difference between being patriotic to your country and being just flat out a cruel bully.

I can’t help but wonder, if the CIA and the ‘Deep State’ truly exist, how can they remain so silent while the U.S. is being harmed so severely?

Is this USAians new thing, demanding others to say thank you? Get fucked, shithole.

    35. hendrixbridge on

Americans are constantly enforcing their communication customs on the others. Eastern Europeans and Slavs in general don’t use politeness as much as in other cultures. For us, one “thank you” is enough. We seem rude when expressing our opinions without puting rose ribbons on them, but that’s just how we communicate. We are more straightforward. We are not used to receive many compliments either. A nod or faint smile is what you’ll probably get as a response. We are just not used to them and we often just don’t know what are we supposed to say in return.

I’ve seen ancient manuscripts that are less fragile than the current American regime. They have an enormous victim mentality

    37. Objective-Stay5305 on

If Starlink can be shut off based on Musk or Trump’s political whims, then it’s an unreliable system. The militaries of other countries should find a replacement ASAP. I can’t imagine it’s going to be good for Starlink’s bottom line when NATO countries begin switching to other services.

    38. Four_beastlings on

1.- Sikorski’s answer, not portrayed here, was a masterpiece. Paraphrasing it was something like “So you confirm that Starlink will keep providing service to Ukraine? Thank you so much!”. Now if they threaten to cut Starlink again they will look (even more) like liars and traitors.

2.- Unfortunately not that it matters much considering the reports coming from UA that Starlink might be providing Russia with the UA forces positions. Liars and traitors.

3.- Poland already has a border with Russia

4.- I fully expect Marco Rubio to come and thank my husband, a Polish soldier with permanent spinal damage from Afghanistan, and then all of the other European troops with injuries caused by US wars and the families of the fallen.

    39. chmureck on

Sikorski later responded to the tweet by Rubio:

      >Thank you, Marco, for confirming that the brave soldiers of Ukraine can count on the vital internet service provided jointly by USA and Poland. Together, Europe and the United States can help Ukraine to achieve a just peace.

So basically he got a confirmation that Starlink won’t be shut down for Ukraine while letting Musk and Rubio make fools of themselves.

EU, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, South Korea and Japan need to band together in economical and military means. And we need to do it yesterday.

    41. Heroic_Capybara on

This is hilarious because Poland was one of the few countries that still somewhat tried to keep the US on it’s side, they’ve bought loads of arms from them recently.

And then Rubio shits all over them.
