      It’s sad, but predictable. Europe has been too weak and feckless. Trump I think realised that it would take this in order to make Europe wake up.

      Let’s imagine the US leaves NATO. Highly unlikely, but just imagine.

      Maybe Russia won’t care if Ukraine joins NATO? They’ll probably try to keep territory, sure, but if the US withdraws it could change the equation for how Russians view NATO as an existential threat.
