Writing in *The Times*, Hoover Institution distinguished visiting fellow and former British prime minister [Rishi Sunak](https://www.hoover.org/profiles/rishi-sunak) argues that the UK should work to disperse the roughly $230 billion in frozen Russian assets held by the west to Ukraine, to assist with continued arms supplies and reconstruction. Today, many western states holding frozen assets merely allow the interest earned by those assets to flow to Ukraine, but Sunak says that’s not enough. He also says the risk of Russian retaliation to an asset transfer is low, as most western companies have left Russia or are in the process of leaving. He adds that the UK can play a crucial role in maintaining the US-Ukraine alliance. “We are both America’s and Ukraine’s most trusted ally, and so we can act as a link between them,” he writes.

It wasn’t a moral duty when he was a PM? I like how politicians are calling for action when they are not in charge any more.

Ever since the Abramovich days… the UK has been looking away when even the most simplest of us could smell it was dirty money. Uk has no credibility on the matter.

People have been arguing this from the first months of the full scale invasion.
It has been a moral duty for the whole entire duration of his premiership. And only now once he isn’t in charge anymore he’s saying this.
Like I agree with him ‘now’, but the gall of it…

Taking the moral high ground when you no longer have any accountability is great political theatre. It’s also void of any substance.

Yeah right we all know thing would’ve been much different if he was in office literally worst prime Minister Britain ever had!
