Vance is hard to look at/listen to. Such an odious toad of a man.

Based on this video alone, he’s fine, and so is Martin. Also Martin shows how a real statesman should act. Let’s see the second meeting later!

Mildly surprised Vance knows how pronounce taoiseach.

Surprises me every year how the government can be so inept at home and yet able to negotiate like true professionals abroad.

Just hope Micheal didn’t sit on any wet patches on the couch 🤢

I think Vance and Trump know how much Ireland depends on corporate tax receipts, they also know that Ireland will fight to retain this and can be at odds with the EU on this.

Trump has surrounded himself with Tech CEOS. They don’t want the expense of bringing all these jobs back to the US.

Martin quoting Regan before talking about Gaza and Ukraine was a masterstroke all the same. Vance and Trump idolise Regan so shows Martin has the homework done..

The comments from alleged Irish people loving Trump and Vance are cringe worthy.

Caught part of it earlier on seems breakfast has went without a hitch, I might need to eat my words later so.

We don’t always like people we have to work with.
      Real test for MM.
      I don’t envy him

It kind of feels like the really obnoxious aggressive school yard bully has taken a liking to you and you don’t want to call them out on being horrible because you don’t want to get in the firing line… What a strange position we are in ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

Was there actually any doubt that MM and co wouldn’t plámás their way through this visit?

    13. I fully expect him to endorse some eyeliners in the next few days.

      “Potato man”.
      “You’re late”.
      Best Simpsons episode ever.

Can’t believe he said ‘”The Ukraine” instead of just ‘Ukraine’. FFS

As he starts to talk he goes to say “Well we’re thrilled” but instead says “world war three-illed” – what is on this man’s mind?

    17. RemnantOfSpotOn on

Martin you better not talk with mouth open…and dont forget to say thank you….

    18. Is that Vance thinking he’s a proper diplomat now, aye?

Fucking cunt. Watch yourselves, from Scotland.

    19. ebagjones on

I hate the idea of that cunt engaging with us in any way. Can’t be helped I suppose.

Someone else said it better, but the president and VP are like the crazy man on the street, let them say what they say, and don’t provoke them.
In and out Micheal.. Just get out…

The hands. Ask any body language expert about them. Snivelling little chameleon.

    22. For some reason I’m concerned about the fact that Trump & Vance have been positive on Ireland.

They’re only positive when they’re getting concessions out of someone.

Trump is expected to be around for 4 years, and it’s pretty clear he’ll do whatever the current person in the room with him is saying.

So long as they frame it as “You’re the best & these guys are doing bad things to you” you’re always liable to be a target.

I’d really prefer Ireland stand with the EU during these times.
Whatever your view is of the EU, it’s not entirely run on the whims of a 78 year old NY celeb trying to role-play a mob boss.

Imo in the long term it’s better to align with national leaders who possess a vocabulary greater than a 3rd year doing their Junior Cert
