“French naval vessel docks in allied nation port on routine operations”.

It may be “routine”, but it never hurts to remind the dumbest Presidential administration in history that they face Armageddon if they ever try to do something really really stupid.

What is the submarine doing exactly, is there an official announcement??
is it there to repair, refuel or is it stationed there for the time being?

I don’t suppose they offer tours? I would love to see it.

Are they flying a Canadian flag? That’s so nice. Thank you France, we love you. I hope they’re making you feel welcome, because you certainly are.

America wants free trade. Stop milking the US and then expect the US to pay for your security. Fair is fair.

What does a Nuclear Attack Submarine (SSN) do?

This may be confusing to many, but the main purpose of a nuclear attack submarine is not to provide nuclear deterrence, but to fight other submarines and surface vessels. The nuclear in the name actually means nuclear powered.

In most navies, nuclear deterrence is the main purpose of ballistic missile submarines (SSBNs). These submarines are equipped with Vertical Launching Systems (VLS) for the deployment of Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBM). The French Navy has the Triomphant class for this purpose.

But wait, it gets more complicated: While attack submarines do not have VLS to launch SLBMs, modern cruise missiles can be fired from torpedo tubes and can carry nuclear warheads. Israel is known to deploy its nuclear warheads on non-nuclear attack submarines. While France does not currently have submarine-launched nuclear cruise missiles, it is believed that adapting existing cruise missiles to carry nuclear warheads would be a very simple task.

I hope I have been able to clear up some common misconceptions.

It’s nuclear powered, Suffran class, the Triomphant is the larger French sub with nuclear warheads on board. You can tell by the conning tower. There’s talk that Canada might be looking at buying.

It’s all fun and games until the “Charles de Gaulle” shows up.

However decided that a 30 second video, that could be summed up in a sentence, deserves to be a news site article should be ashamed of themselves.

      As well as the OP.

    15. France might be the last best hope for democracy in this whole wide world.

Don’t panic, this is just a routine operation between NATO allies.

    17. Hopefully popping by for a test drive.

If there’s one lesson we should take away from this trump non-sense, it’s that we need stronger ties with our other allies.
