The problem is one of comparative military power. Greenland could be relatively easily invaded, asking the troops on the ground to resist the US would be asking them to commit suicide I would anticipate.
The only really good answer would be for Denmark to move military assets to Greenland as a deterrent. Unfortunately Denmark is particularly poorly placed to do this because it has only spent about half of it’s 2% NATO commitment for over a decade. Denmark created a huge problem for themselves here.
