Dopo aver marchiato per diversi giorni, gli studenti provenienti da tutta la Serbia vengono accolti prima di ciò che si prevede essere la più grande protesta nella storia serba
Context:In Serbia protests started as a result of peoples anger towards the government after a recently renovated train station canopy in Novi Sad collapsed and killed 15 people. Soon after that Students with the support of their proffesors decided to blockade all universities and protest against the government until justice is Served. These protests led by young people have attracted hundreds of thousands of people to join and protest every day. In Serbia massive protests are held essentially every day, with students from different cities meeting each other at a new location every few weeks(after marching for a couple of days to get to those cities). The first was in Novi Sad, the second in Kragujevac, the third in Niš. The protests are growing in size day by day even though more than 4 months have passed since they started(probably because young people never give up). A few days ago, after the national TV station in Serbia RTS called students a mob within hours students and citizens gathered to blockade the building of RTS, not allowing anyone to enter. The next big protest is scheduled for March 15. in Belgrade. This protest will be different however, as it is expected to be the largest protest in the history of Serbia, larger than the protest held on December 22nd 2024, and the revolution that brought down dictator Milošević on October 5th 2000. Vučić, together with his domestic(and foreign) supporters has warned that a coup is being planned and that “massive violence” will happen, but also that he is expecting more people than ever to attend. The EU has called for an ‘end to violence’ which is absurd and goes into Vučićs playbook, who blames students for violence and talks about that ‘stop the violence’ bs every day, when he has paid party hooligans attacking students and even children(The whole student blockades started after ruling party hooligans attacked people who were paying their respects to the people who passed away in Novi Sad, and litteraly in not a single instance did students cause any violence. Since then his people have hit protesters with cars, written middle fingers on schools(even elementary schools), and the height of this chaos, he even payed people to pretend to be students and to say ‘we want to study’… The man has no shame. The students have recently called for people to unite together in local self governing bodies in order to help fight the regime which has been eroding civil and political rights for years(Vucic came to power in 2012). In Serbia, all the national coverage TV stations are owned by Vucic who promotes his propaganda, and the only way people get informed are though a very small number of TV stations(N1 being the most popular one) and through social media. People are fed up with his dangerous rhetoric. He has called students a mob, bolsheviks, anarcho-communists, fascists, nazis, ustashe, foreign adversarries, when in reality these are all normal people wanting justice in this corrupt and criminal system and regime. Many people now realise ahead of the march 15th protest that its now or never for getting rid of him. Also a few days ago Donald Trumps son Trump Jr. met with Vučić to discuss some (shady) business deals regarding the Trump real estate company, especially with the project of renovating the Yugoslav ministry of defense building, which was destroyed in the 1999. bombing campaign against Yugoslavia, and turning it into a luxurious hotel, also indirectly as a sign of support for Serbia’s president, Aleksandar Vučić.
