      ?!?

I don’t think Tchaikovsky or Kalinnikov, that died over 100 years ago have anything to do with what is happening today, and playing their music gives no royalties to Russia just because they were born there.

I’m completely against what Russia is doing, but I think this is unjustified.

Tchaikovsky was gay, he would most likely be be on your side if he was alive today, Kalinnikov spent the last 10 years of his very short life in Ukraine. These are just 2 examples of how unfair this proposition is.

So it’s immoral to listen to a Russian composer from over 100 years ago? I don’t get that…

Note that JD Vance was at a performance of the works of a Russian composer.

With this kind of thinking, we won’t ever have peace. Should we cancel US culture, French culture ? A lot of countries did go to war. We cannot just bash Russian culture because of that. Culture and links will help us all to achieve peace. This kind of thinking only aliment hate and eternal war. I cannot agree with you.

We at the contrary have to encourage people to love each other as much as possible. It was an error to exclude Russia from Olympics too. It’s the occasion to close people.

Collaboration via the arts is healthy and healing, but not before Putin gets the fuck out of Ukraine. And probably not for some time after that.

Russian “culture” led Tchaikovsky to drown himself in a river, so it’s not all ballet and waltzes over there.

Very weak point of view that encourages human idiocy. Russia has had a wonderful artistic culture that has enriched millions of people’s lives – literature, music, ballet. It is not thanks to Putin that those great artists flourished. Most people have the capability to hold 2 things in their mind at once:

1.) Modern Russian geopolitics and military aggression evil and wrong
2.) 19th and 20th Russian arts are sublime

I know what they did at Bucha. Anyone who still supports Russia thinks that’s not a big deal.

But not all Russians support the war. I bought some artwork from a Russian artist she’s absolutely anti putin anti war.

There’s a Ukranian ballet troupe putting on Swan Lake in my city, I was considering going, what’s the general attitude towards that?
