Fair play to Lake here for having the tenacity to pursue this lowlife.

It is insane what landlords can get away with, and how poorly they think they can treat another person. Need to bring back Captain Moonlight to deal with lads like this properly.

His solicitor should be struck off too, I’ve seldom read about behaviour that unprofessional.

    2. She asked her daughter McKenzie to transfer the rent while she was away. However, following the death of a close friend to suicide, McKenzie forgot to deposit the rent for July and August. When Ms Lake was made aware of this, she immediately transferred the outstanding money to Mr O’Sullivan. It was the first time in four years that a rental payment had ever been missed. She thought nothing more of it, but when McKenzie returned one evening, the locks had been changed and Mr O’Sullivan was living inside.
Since she was illegally evicted, Ms Lake has had to attend three RTB hearings; Skibbereen courthouse for two civil cases to get her RTB orders enforced; and a criminal damage hearing to give evidence about her minivan.Despite being the victim, Ms Lake found it difficult to get rental accommodation in Ireland after speaking out about her experience. O’Sullivan also buried her car in a field.

Very rare case of a landlord being held accountable. Because of the wealth and power imbalance between the majority of tenants and landlords, the lack of enforcement of the rules, and the lack of an easy legal way to challenge abusive landlords, this kind of thing usually doesn’t happen.
