Carney says Canada might cut rather than cancel F-35 order. Guess this would imply buying two types of jets. “Ottawa wants to determine whether by buying European and British military goods it can procure more industrial benefits for Canada.”
Has nothing to do with europe.

Turkey is also looking for alternatives. Despite the fact that the pilot chairs or something similar were made by us and we paid the money, they did not deliver the jets to us, citing Turkey’s purchase of the Russian S-400 defense system. Yet, Trump himself proudly announces that Crimea belongs to Russia and claims that Zelenskyy is not thankful enough for that. I don’t understand what Trump wants at all.
I imagine Saab would be interested in this, especially as they were in the running at the time, with the rafale and Eurofighter not interested due to politics.
Now it seems the politics has switched, possibly GCAP would entice the Canadians with both the UK and Japan being in the CP-TPP. That would cut some red tape for sure.
Portugal didn’t have an order (thankfully), they just are now actively looking for an alternative to the F-35.
All NATO countries, except USA, need to come up with a new generation fighter jet, they got enough know how.
