Freedom for the rich at the expense of the urban poor who have to live next to 8 lane highways and can’t own cars.

This dude complaining about Fußgängerzonen as if they’re not great and sorely lacking in American cities is the icing on the cake

    2. BoxNo3004 on

      This COULD be astroturfing.

But propaganda is what you see when you open Politico

    3. I would be tempted to invoke Poe’s law of the internet. I also learned I apprently have to use public transportation and/or cars. Because legs are overrated?

Also also, freedom of one’s car, say, in rush hour on a highway is therefore underrated?

OMG, do everybody a favor and move back to the US…..

“My way of life is the way to go, and everything opposed to it is bad”

We mock their gun-culture and car-obsessions.

They mock our tax-rates and terraces

    6. ruminant_sheep on

most likely some sort of propaganda bot meant to stir controversy and negative stereotypes, i think i’ve seen this particular post and comments discussed before

    7. uberusepicus on

They are bots with a very specific ruleset to discuss negatively on a topic.. that’s why should ban all that shit..
You can fool them by going in discussion about something weird and they will discuss the weird thing which would make no sense

“most europeans work at an office 10 hours per day, 6 times per week”
says from the USA where there is no paid vacation basically, paid maternity or any real freedom actually?

    9. symbister on

The elephant in the room is that by the current standards of the USA, yes Europe is at least Socialist, thank god.

    10. DrunkenHorse12 on

To be fair to them we do open the door to this. I mean in the UK we have some very anti car laws and policies. In a lot of cases they are needed but poorly executed. Failures include putting bus lanes in to cities when the roads aren’t wide enough so all they do is introduce bottle necks further back down the road so the buses are no faster, and then we but in congestion charges, that don’t actually reduce congestion, no one’s driving into City centres for the fun of it so it’s a tax on personal driving forcing people into public transport, but public transport in the UK is terrible and very expensive because its all privatised run for profit and has a captive consumer base so has no incentive to actually improve or lower prices.

The USA is geographically and intellectually isolated, as most Americans have never left their country to see how the rest of the world lives. They have only their presumptions and prejudices to rely upon.

Anecdote: I was sitting in a Tapas bar in a Madrid suburb having breakfast. A man in a suit, who I assumed was a businessman, was sitting next to me. He was drinking a cup of espresso, as well as a small glass of vinho do Porto alongside it. I thought, “wow, that’s excellent – strong coffee to will the mind and body into facing the work day, and a bit of sweet wine to take the edge off the coffee.”

This confirmed to me that I was visiting a truly civilized country.

It is propaganda. My recommendation is to delete your account

    13. alastorrrrr on

Bro if the weather is right. I literally just sit at them and let the wind play with my hair. It’s genuinely peak. How can Americans hate it.

    14. DeadlyCareBear on

The real answer is, we are simply not scared to get shot when we are outside, so we like to enjoy fresh air and the sun.

I know americans need to evaluate if the risk of getting shot is worth being outside.

So, if thats communism for these people, okay.

    15. 1913Jewel_xx on

If he does not like it, he can leave. Nobody will miss american stupidity (no offense to the sane crowd).

    16. BelgianPolitics on

This is actually rage bait. It’s a bunch of Europeans typing out (in a bit of an exaggerated way) what some Americans have commented on those posts before. I believe it’s the running joke of that account. Basically making fun of MAGA people who comment on instagram posts about European lifestyle. The owner of the account (who is European or an expat in Europe) pins the best/most convincing ones. It’s confusing at because everyone is playing along and because actual Americans will get involved (and potentially some bots) making it more difficult to separate satire from reality.

    17. Sweaty_Ad4296 on

I don’t understand where the idea came from that communists were “woke”. Communism and fascism are both built on enforced homogeneity. No matter how you define woke, both communists and fascists were pretty damn anti-woke wherever they gained power.

The second post does sound like straight-up propaganda. The third one is too, though, and it makes just as little sense as the other one: it looks like they think that Europeans work almost as has as the Chinese with their infamous 996 schedule.

Maybe that post belongs under /shitamericanssay.

    18. Jayblack23 on

There are a LOT of bots or purposeful misinformation on instagram, typically on these kinds of reels that are not super viewed/like but still with a decent amount. So like 80k likes on the reel and its about something controversial, then for some reason thousands of propaganda bots swarm it, and you see those comments rack up nearly as many likes as the reel itself..

    19. Necessary_Pie2464 on

Reading those comments makes me really understand what effect the post Regan education cuts have had on the US

Like holy shit this is beyond comedy at this point

    20. Yup. Now that the fascism is taking over americas and some parts of Europe, their old scapegoat comes back to the table.

If the fascists dont like you, you are a communist or a woke person. The common enemy tactic is exactly the same as in 1930. It just shifted from jewish people to woke commies. Ironically, this is what the extreme right wingers complained about the left. Every opinion they sh*t out of their mouths would get them labelled as a fascist, or mysoginistic, or racist, or xenophobic. The difference is that they dont need their call outs to be accurate, just to throw them on you. Disinformation or rethoric will do the rest

Everything is now propaganda, and social networks are the perfect vehicle for this.

No one wants to quit them and everyone thinks they can distinguish propaganda from actual meaningful information. This era’s downfall starts and ends with social media.

Reports will not work anymore (if they ever did lol), information is not filtered at all, propaganda is pushed and pinned for everyone to see, dissidents have their comments boosted, bots are running wild. All in all, the best course of action is to simply nuke every social platform out of existence. The “jobs” and “opportunities“ it creates are not enough weight to put on a scale with collective respect and prosperity.

    21. Apanaian_apA on

I would never ever sell my city centre’s cafés for roads.

All these people seem unbelievable too. Like, they genuinely sound like bots set up by rightists rather than delusional men.

    22. cybercuzco on

      >why do Europeans always sit outside in cafes on terraces

Because they make enough money to eat out and have lots of free time?

    23. echidna_s_tea_pot on

Could be, but they also look like the usual things a ignorant american would say.
