Source for all of these can be found on İbrahim Haskaoğlu’s blog on Twitter. (in turkish)

This is a civil coup. The government has cancelled all cops’ off days, calling every single one of them into work, made it illegal for press to make any reports for a few days, made it illegal to even form a group or march for ANY reason and most importantly, made the main opposition candidate unable to run for president.

EDIT: The goverment has started arresting other municipal mayors that are aligned with the CHP. This is an illegal takeover of Istanbul.

Trump is gonna be jealous of this, now I know what’s going to happen next week on the new episode of America Falling.

Every wannabe dictator from hungary, serbia to usa taking notes 🙂

    4. That’s why Turkey will never join EU. Actions speak louder than words.

    5. Puzzled_Muzzled on

And THAT Turkey wants to be in EU DEFENCE and ARMS. FFS. This is what the EU should DEFEND of

    6. Creepy-Impact-5292 on

And they want to be part of OTAN and Europe? Fuck off Erdogan.

    7. It’s always depressing to see the will of a single person impose itself upon the many. How narcissistic one must be to think he deserves to stay where he is at the cost of everyone else’s freedom? Thousand of years of human history and we still repeat the same patterns. A single person desires against millions of human lives.

    8. I guess “terrorism” in Turkey is now just… scaring Erdo?

As a Swede who opposed entering Nato, I can finally say I TOLD YOU F-N SO!

Seriously though, the worlds slippery fall into fascism is really depressing.

All the escalators and lifts in the subway were closed, there were delays too. What irritates me the most is the reaction of our citizens. Nobody is doing shit, including me. Starting is the hardest part of those kind of protests, CHP must start one.

Its ok they are in NATO so they can do whatever they want and the alliance ensures that the world will look the other way.

The fact that motherfuckers like this exist and there are so many examples of it all over the world and yet people choose to vote for the far right literally makes me wonder what the fuck is in their frontal lobe.

      Holy shit fuck off

Erdogan knows that the west needs Turkey. He figures that means he has a blank check to do dictator stuff.

    14. This is why Turkey should never be part of the EU.

Sure we can have economic treaties and such, but I would always vote against membership.

The EU needs reform, getting rid of the veto, and other necessary changes first anyway.

    15. QOTAPOTA on

Just when you thought Turkey (Erdogan) was becoming a normal reliable state again.

    16. andromedagalaxy8 on

Gosh what’s happening in Turkey? Why has the opposition been arrested?

    17. GurthNada on

Erdogan knows very well that his “not aligned with Russia” geopolitical stance shields him from any international repercussions, just as his “Syrian migrants filter” stance did in the past decade.

    18. theblasterr on

Holy shit my feelings about Turkey (well the government) is such a rollercoaster.

    19. lawrotzr on

Funny how everyone in the EU had such a warm welcome for Erdogan into their “coalition of the willing” because as a consequence of their own mismanagement and incompetence, we now have to rely on these kinds of people.

Everything to avoid the painful truth – that the EU has grown too fat, lazy and happy to grow its own hard power to really do something on the world stage. And that includes these developments in Turkey.

    20. Tobybrent on

Turkey had such promise once. Now it’s just another dictatorland with a jackboot and a hijab.

Trump is going to try this same shit within a month or two

    24. TheLieChe on

But we can definitely let them into EU guys! They will be a great asset. For us. Definitely an EU asset. And nothing else.
