It’s incredible how large multinationals can’t get this right. I keep having Spotify suggest things to me in Dutch somehow, and all the ads I have on YouTube are in Dutch too.
It looks like your app is in English, have you tried putting it in Dutch? Display language shouldn’t affect content language, but…
Netflix is doing it too now: currently watching the French version of the Lego movie (as in: signs in the movie are in French) with English audio, only option of French subtitles…
Aaah, a flashback to that time Fable III got installed on my xbox 360 in French with no option to switch to another language no matter my settings.
Depending on the country YouTube, Netflix, etc. have to license different versions of a movie or series. It’s possible that the Dutch and/or English versions has not been licensed and is therefore simply not available in Belgium. This can happen because it’s too costly to license all these different language versions or sometimes because another media company has attained exclusive licensing rights for that particular title.
I’ve had it happen that only the dubbed French versions of movies are available on streaming platforms and the original English isn’t. Or only French subtitles are available with no Dutch or English alternatives. 9/10 these things are due to licensing issues.
Recently I had an app-feedback poll on Instagram with the title in Dutch and poll options in French x)
Had this with prime tv. Disney+ was surprisingly good at this
