    1. > However, Purra said that electric vehicles should be taxed more rather than those that run on petrol and diesel.

      What did she smoke?

All the taxes she proposes will predominantly will affect the financially weak since the wealthy can just burn through the tax. In addition the cheapest food usually contains easily the most ingredients harmful to health such as to much as salt.

Consumption of sugar is another way of recreational drug usage, e.g. to cope. In my opinion investment in healthcare , especially into mental healthcare, rather than taxes would be a better to improve health.

There are probably things that would be better to save money on such as funding for police and private security firms.

Good. Electrical vehicles are toy cars used by rich hipsters.

Well, that’s one way to lose business.

With the sugar tax it makes more sense to buy 20kg of sweets from Germany and have them shipped. And for people in north it means the 80’s butter trips to Sweden are back.

Also the remark for work taxation doesn’t make any sense (not that I expected that). The gross income or amount of work isn’t really straightly dependent of the tax involved. My employer doesn’t give me any more money if the tax is decreased.

    4. Weren’t they supposed to lower taxes, cut services and decrease spending? So far they have only cut services while everything else increased. How great. That’s what you get when you vote solely based on immigrants bad.

Well, as far as EVs go it was obvious they’d be hit with the tax-hammer sooner or later. Even imagining the scenario where the majority would shift from traditional ICE vehicles to EV, it’s obvious there’s no way the tax income from this sector would just be let go.

Driving EV in the future will be every bit as expensive as driving ICE now. If not more so due to the X factor of electricity related taxes and prices.

Increased electric car tax is inevitable anyway, you EV hippies actually think they wont start taxing tf out of you if they manage to get the usage of petrol and diesel cars low enough? They gotta get their money somehow.

Ahh…the great Q of Spades Purra. Elect idiotic PS party into office, with links to far right groups, sexual misconduct, financial corruption issues, and this is what you get.

Persus against trans…. Who would have guessed! xD But I actually think this is a good idea… If it would also lower the tax on healthy vegan foods.

Seiska: Purra starts war on TRANS fats…. raises taxes on E, gets increasingly salty and hates sweet things!

More tax to the most taxed food stuffs, nicotine and alcohol.

Oh how I wish I wasn’t a blue collar worker, well time to ferry to the baltics for an additional trip this year in preparation.

Down with the food taxes. Boo on the automotive tax. But if it’s a import tariff then they should use the taxes harvested to boost local auto industry (maybe we get a Finnish car maker again. Crushing it with electric bikes :D)

And I propose higher taxes on Purra, her colleagues and other citizens in the ‘really fucking high monthly income’ tax bracket, but what was that? They actually lowered their own taxes? Nevermind then… Real lucky they weren’t french politicians that time, they would’ve been up in some lamp post somewhere.

Fat tax does not make sense. Beef, milk, butter, yoghurt, cheese, eggs, pizza have some amounts of trans fats – it is completely fine food for regular people. Will the population suddenly become more healthy eating less of these? I certainly won’t.

‘comparable to alcohol and tobacco’ – lol no.

Controlling fats and imposing additional tax on selected food types will lead to unnecessary regulations on the market and loss of quality of food available in Finland in the long run.

    14. Dangerous-Pride8008 on

that’s transphobic, trans people should be allowed to be fat just like normal people.

A lot of people do not seem to realise that buying an EV is not such a big contribution towards the climate at their current state. They create more pollution when manufactured, and require around 1,5-2 years of driving to “even out” the carbon footprint in comparison to regular vehicles AFAIK.

Not a fan of Purra but these proposals do not sound that bad to me.

    16. bashthelegend on

“Trans fats, salt and sugar are used excessively, [and they are] comparable to alcohol and tobacco,” Purra declared, adding that “we can promote health with a new kind of tax policy.”

Keep stuff like this in mind for the next time conservatives pretend to be for personal responsibility and against nanny-state rules. I don’t actually disagree with the principle, but seems like a lot of people who vote PS should!

    17. Whats the assumption here? Insurance companies have been developing ‘pay as you drive’ €/km taxation model for years, instead of current emission derived model.
Surely EV ‘im driving free’ gyus an galls’ weren’t expecting free ride to last forever. Ev cars are heavier than your typical toyota. And have shitload of torq to eat tyres and tarmac.
Whitin 5yrs car insurances and related taxes are paid per km you drive.

Sugar, salt and trans fats are okay but electric cars?? What is that racist high on again? I want the same trip.
