Turning off F-16 radar scrambling on Ukrainian planes was a bad move. No level of reassurance that there are no back doors on the F-35 will work now.

I hope Europe will go with Swedish Gripens, modular and easy maintenance, can land and take off on public roads. Defensive wise, it’s the best European jet we have.
If it’s gonna get hot, we can’t have expensive US toys that made to feed their military industrial complex first and only after that be battle ready.

Because the Americans will tamper with them in order to pressure us into surrendering.

Rafale would be a good alternative, the problem is how fast they can make more of them

Wondering how much of Rafale´s tech is burdened by ITAR. Does anyone know?

International trade relies on stability, and arms procurement depends on trust.
Shifts in U.S. policy and internal divisions may be influencing how allies assess their strategic partnerships. Concerns about economic and political power concentration in the US further shape discussions on governance and reliability, with some expressing fears that the current U.S. government may seek to expand its borders to include Canada, Greenland, and Panama, as per Donald Trumps own words.

*Europe and Canada are eyeing alternatives to American-made fighter jets. Here’s why*
For the same reason that you wouldn’t want to buy fighter planes from the Russians.

If Turkey topples Erdogan and brings him to justice, reestablishes democracy, Europe will buy all kinds of Turkish weaponry, including the TAI Kaan (which is also partly British).
US knows this very well and that is why the CIA currently does everything to keep Erdogan in power.

Canada is not. The recent announcement is exactly what happened last time this was a topic of discussion – it’s thrown out there ahead of a federal election…once the votes are counted, we’re still buying F35s.
Simply put…Canada does not have a choice. We do not have effective sovereignty over our own defense, we gave that up decades ago so we could spend on social programs instead.

Because F35 is a shit death trap, violently overpriced ?
The whole construct is the kill switch.
How to did they need Trump to not get brutally scammed by the US ?
So at least Trump had this one positive effect, I guess?
