I mean, if we forget about all the recent events for a moment, why they are they even trying with all those countries, practically-speaking? They, even combined, simply don’t have enough excess production to noticeably ease the US’s eggs problem. US need to ask actual eggs exporting countries. Netherlands seems to be big player in this area? Poland also seems to be not small? They can even ask us, we have significant surplus even in war? You know, eggs for HIMARS – art of the deal.

From what I understand the egg shortage is due to them not vaccinating their chickens against bird flu. Bird flu has been a problem since 2022 and they are now begging for eggs. We should keep saying no. They can’t have UK eggs anyway but if they came asking i’d tell them that during the war this country managed just fine without eggs all while being bombed every night, the US can go without eggs too but then again they got bombed in 2001 and they still haven’t let it go.

Because the production covers the consumption nearly exactly there is no easy way to momentarily increase production.
If they would ask EU maybe some limited help could be arranged without much hurt to the eu consumer, but definitely not like what they are doing – not in any meaningful quantities anyway.
I have a very hard time believing this is not a groundwork for “Europe abandoned us in our time of need and putin promised a lot of eggs” nonsense.
