What’s the point of a suspended sentence? He’s already proved that he can’t behave himself AFTER being found guilty of assault. Another scumbag hiding behind a jersey.

    2. depressedintipp on

A mockery and affront to the basic principles of law and order.

    3. weirdpastanoki on

Oh he’ll be suitable a’right. No doubt. And the community service will be continuing to be a cunt and hurl for limerick.

A judge has told All-Star Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes he will not be jailed if he is deemed suitable for 180 hours of voluntary unpaid community service, in lieu of a three-month jail sentence for his conviction for violent disorder in a nightclub.

Judge Dara Hayes on Friday adjourned a Section 99 re-entry of a two-year suspended sentence imposed on Hayes after he was convicted in December 2023 of violent disorder at the Icon nightclub on October 28, 2019.

The five-time All-Ireland winner looked visibly relieved as he walked from the court.

I wonder if Kyle were the usual Limerick city head, would he get the same softly-softly community service treatment?

    5. More from the Journal.ie

      > Mawe [the solicitor] said McCarthy gave evidence that Kyle Hayes told him to “stay the fuck away away” from the two young women and asked him “do you know who the fuck I am?”.

      > Mawe said McCarthy said he walked away and was approached again by Hayes and the other man on the dance floor of the nightclub “in a confrontational, aggressive, unsolicited” fashion and “threatened again to stay away from the two females”.

      Total wanker

    6. Purple_Cartographer8 on

Complete joke good at a sport so you can do whatever you want. Horrible person and a horrible family.

    7. PoppedCork on

A disgrace to common decency that this GAA thug wasn’t imprisoned. The DPP need to appeal this and not allow a precedent

    8. Even-Space on

Nice to know that you can do whatever you like as long as you’re good at hurling 👍

    9. LaBete1984 on

If he’d killed someone while overtaking nine cars at 155 km/h, what do you reckon would have happened?

Would they have extended his community service by one day or two?

    10. pauljmr1989 on

What precedent does this set? You can act the cunt on a suspended sentence, undermine a judge, and you’ll still get off?

    11. NooktaSt on

Given his conviction is for violence surely he won’t be suitable for community service…

Realistically they will probably claim that training and playing for club and county is community service and give him credit for time served.

    12. FreiLieb on

Anybody who utters the words “Do you know who I am?’ should be jailed immediately until such a time where we can arrange a referendum on capital punishment for this specific offence.

    13. Salt_Caterpillar6125 on

He’s not suitable for that 180 hours though. A repeat offender who has proven that he thinks he’s above the law. Overtook nine cars and is capable of violence. Had done damage to that lad and that person suffered abuse as a result of this GAA protected excuse for a human being. Sure some older man was all for him getting another chance on the Joe Duffy show a couple of weeks ago. So basically if that was you or me robbing a loaf of bread do you think we would get away with it. Of course not. But he will go off again and the blood is on the courts hands. Absolutely disgusted but not surprised. Sure isn’t he a chip off the ol block with his brothers. Needs to booked into anger management classes for a few years. Entitled protected the words that belong to the likes of him and Mac Gregor.

    14. Noonionsforme on

Once again association with the GAA makes you immune to justice.

    15. Inevitable-Story6521 on

Please tell me that hurling training or coaching or promotion doesn’t count as community service

    16. RustyNewWrench on

It’s all about who ya know. Fucking joke. Scumbag from a scumbag family.

    17. CouldUBLoved on

I’m sure he’s learned his lesson… This time … Right?

    18. AwkwardBet7634 on

As a GAA person it’s sickening that it has obviously that has weighed heavily here in Kyle’s favour.

“A rule for thee but not for me.”

He should be behind bars with the brothers. Simple as.

    19. slamjam25 on

Remember, any time someone says that suspended sentences are a real sanction because “put a toe out of line and they’ll be automatically activated” they’re fucking lying to you.

    20. BobbyKonker on

Laws are a total illusion. It’s all bullshit. I am fucking done following the rules. Fuck it you see aresholes laughing at the rest of us for obeying laws and they get away with all sorts of shite. And thats even before you get to the people with 100 or 200 convictions who just breeze in and out of court like its nothing with a smile on their face.

    21. Garlic-Cheese-Chips on

Wider community is also at fault. There will no doubt be dozens, if not hundreds, of Limerick’s “finest” petitioning the judge for leniency. All for the hurl.

    22. Few_Bat_9518 on

I wish this country would take its tongue out of the arse of GAA players. What the fuck does playing sport have to do with not being a piece of shit?

    23. What does it take to lock this son of a bitch up. At this rate he’ll be running for president of US soon. Fucking ridiculous

    24. WilliamsDriver1 on

Is this considered preferential treatment for a privileged individual or preferential treatment for someone who is seen as a contributor to “Society” or just plain preferential treatment for sports people?

    25. cacamilis22 on

Terrible decision. I wouldn’t let you judge a kindergarten painting competition. What are these judges on? Seriously.

    26. Alternative-Cry4335 on

Let’s hope this piece of scum dosent kill someone in the future

    27. Silantro-89 on

They’ll probably deem training & playing hurling as community service at this rate.

    28. Greedy-Cow-3514 on

He could kill someone in a Garda barracks and get away with it at this stage,

    29. gav_9000 on

Are we waiting for him to kill somebody before we take his crimes seriously ?

    30. TwinIronBlood on

Could you imagine been the probation officer who has to complete the is he suitable for community service. No he’s a violent thug who had meant character syndrome. But he’s a good hurler and his county needs him. Oh he’s got a GAA pass. OK he can show ip next weekend and we’ll fill out his paperwork. No actual need to get his hands dirty. He might drop the ball

    31. FeedbackBusy4758 on

Well color me absolutely shocked. A cunt who plays GAA and comes from a family of dirty cunts who are in jail for assault gets away scot free. It won’t be the last time he’s before the courts he just can’t help himself but he will never see the inside of a jail cell. I wonder will Kiely or JP keep their deafening silence on such a thug in the hurling team.

    32. FlamingoRush on

Fuck this shit! If not him then send the judge to jail for this crime.

    33. Various_Alfalfa_1078 on

Judge Hayes said Hayes was a talented and highly decorated hurler who in no way sought preferential treatment in court on account of his public status.- if he didn’t seek preferential treatment then why mention he’s a hurler.? also is judge Hayes related to Hayes?
