Until the point when the other members fight back, Orban understands power only. He will play his games as long as he has a chance.
At this point, there is no way he will give up power in Hungary. He will stay in control even after a lost election (which is unlikely, as they will cheat anyway).
You should be more worried for the Hungarian people rather than hating them.
Orbán, following the Russian model, has slowly dismantled democracy. The majority of people don’t support him.
This hatred towards Hungarians should be stopped, and it’s time to look into the facts.

I think every alliance must have a kick off mechanism, especially if there are rules to be met while entering. Because they can just start ignoring the rules at any time, leaving you with a problem within that you can never solve.
The majority of hungarians are pro-EU. More and more people had enough of Orbán, as it stands now, he’ll probably lose the ’26 elections.
But I’m afraid he won’t let that happen that easily. We had some demonstrations recently, and while those can’t hold a candle to the ones in Serbia or Slovakia, I think he will sooner or later force the people into similar big demonstrations.
Please dont say “Hungarian voters”. There are a growing number of anti fidesz voters. Look out for 2026.

Unfortunately Hungary is silently supported by big German business, that has large factories there and benefit from tax brakes. The same business controls German politicians… So answer yourself why so little is being done with the situation.
They are abusing a system with alteria motives. It’s not about what is best for the EU, it’s about one person’s desires. There needs to be a legislation which prevents such abuse by a single country that doesn’t reflect European values.
Orban is a piece of shit, a parasitic organism that the world would be better off without.
It doesn’t destroy anything but it sure is annoying, especially towards Ukraine.
Fun fact: Spain’s far right party admits having received almost 10 million eur for an election campaign directly from a hungarian bank and is now under investigation. Do you see where this is going?

Strong EU leaders had 15 years to handle Orbán. They couldn’t. Every single time he tried to sabotage something, they basically bribed him with concessions — and now they’re acting surprised it didn’t work.
Here’s a tip: cutting agricultural subsidies would hit his voter base where it hurts. A lot of them genuinely believe those funds come personally from Orbán, not the EU. And without those subsidies, much of the Hungarian agricultural sector would be on its deathbed — many can’t even turn a profit with support. There are tools available. They’re just not being used.
Or prevent it from collapsing in ignorance.

Orban recently announced some kind of soviet era tax relief for young women who decide to have children in an attempt to get support. It’s going to backfire but tell a bunch of people they get tax relief, and you get some supporters. I wonder how Hungary will fair if its expelled from the EU. It’s currently surrounded by EU nations and a nation that wants to be in the EU. It won’t be easy

I read a post on reddit this morning saying that the EU will continue voting but that 26 votes will be enough to pass legislations, so we don’t need russian’s vasal to vote with us anymore
Not the voters!! There has been a state capture. Orban’ reign is not legitimate, he has modified the election system to his interests. With the support of only 1/3 of Hungary’s eligible voters, his party secures 2/3 of the Parliament’s seats (not to mention that ethnic Hungarians living in parts of neighboring countries—territories that were once part of Greater Hungary before the Trianon Treaty—can obtain Hungarian citizenship and voting rights. Most of them support Orbán’s party since it was his government that granted them citizenship. The majority have never paid taxes in Hungary, but they can vote). Orban with this crazy voting system can push true any wicked law tailored by him to exclude/ ridicule minority groups creating hatred in the society and to legitimize stealing state funds. There are numerous other factors I won’t mention here in order not to write a book.
I am tired of people who do not make their investigative work and just blatantly assume that it is still a democratic voting system in Hungary! OP, do your research first, blame later. The only thing I accuse Hungarians for is that they have still not risen up against this despot. But 2026 election year is coming and we have a talented, almost bullet-proof candidate to make a change for good, finally!

U havent really read a lot about voting system changes in hungary have u? Orban changed the voting system so that it greatly favours him, he also gave citizenship to foreign people with whatever weal hungarian ancestry which wanted citizenship in a bit to get more votes from outside of hungary to cement his position…in no point past 10 years was he playing a fair game, something democracy relies on
Yet despite all of this he is still scheduled to lose in the next election unless he goes full om Erdogan
They can continue till *all talk, no action* politicans remain in leadership of other eu countries – there will be always some kind of Berlusconi/Fico/Orban in one (wish it was only 1!) of 20+ states
So i really see Orban in this case as consequence, not a cause – and cause is way eu was built, it’s politics remain stale under dictatorship of minority until countries override some regulations to make technically illegal changes fixing weaknesses of current veto, or slowly introducing similar to EU organization which slowly replace EU,
