I agree but bookshops (and other online retails) failed to innovate. I have been boycotting Amazon for a few weeks now because of Trump’s shit and I find online bookshops really challenging to use.

I just refuse to use amazon. If I can’t find it anywhere else & I need it I’ll see who sells it through amazon & go to their own website & get it.

      Fuck amazon.

I use Kenny’s online which tends to be pretty good but you have to accept that you might pay a small bit more and wait a day or two longer. Hodges figgis remains an hour well spent

We need to use Irish bookstores.

      Kennys
      O’Mahonys
      Easons

The family ran ones are obviously first choice.

In a few years when Ireland isn’t in a good place from a jobs perspective we’ll remember this as a crucial point and how our soulless government basically had government heads and departments welcoming them and getting them free media attention and advertising. As well as infrastructure like roads grinding to a halt, where no Irish firm would have been allowed to monopolise public infrastructure like roads at Rathcoole, to the detrement of locals and local businesses.

When’s the last time a government official got some PR for Kenny’s Books?

People really need to choose to shop local first, if you can’t find it then maybe consider giving the company to a company that relies on tax breaks to reduce its 35 Billion of profits down to a 6% federal tax rate while we need our local small businesses competing against it to pay full taxes to pay for our housing crises, public infrastructure and social welfare for the jobs they are about to displace.
