      Details: Imamoğlu, who was released under judicial control in an investigation launched on terrorism charges, has been arrested in connection with a corruption investigation involving MEDYA A.Ş.

      Update: Main Opposition Party CHP announced that they’ll continue to resist.

      Update: Looks like the investigation regarding terrorism charges still ongoing. Decision will be given soon. If they find Imamoglu guilty with terrorism charges they will be able to appoint a state controlled governor to IBB.

      To give context, they are investigating a corrupt tender process.

      The process of investigation is very broad and rather than going for the signatories, they investigate the whole board members (probably justifiable) but family members (not justified) and now the mayor (maybe?)

      I’m sure everyone would be hard pressed to say that there is no corruption in the Turkish tender process but the fact that it left out Erdogan party is quite obvious

      Erdogan is gonna go down the same path as Putin. He probably dreams himself as Xi Jinping (let’s face it, China is the only truly functional dictatorship in the world)

      What is it with dictators and arresting their opposition on corruption charges. They do it in Russia, China and now Turkey. I’m sure the other places with Autocrats do the same.

      At least come up with a different charge, not just corruption every single time. It’s just lazy.
