Coming from that team, it’s really a badge of honour. Europe should be flattered.

    2. Additional-Map-2808 on

Well Putin has been waving his dick at Europe for the last 3 years, even Kim got involved.

    3. CriticalBath2367 on

r/conservative are eating their own arseholes and turning on each other over this, it’s hilarious.

    4. Paper_Pusher8226 on

We kinda already knew that but at this point I don’t really care about their opinion anymore.

    5. culture_vulture_1961 on

We kind of knew what they thought about us already. Now the mango mussolini is picking a fight with Iran they can do it on their own.

    6. Laicbeias on

Our military is weak and we did not invest enough even though we had russia attacking ukraine for quite some time now. So yeah its not wrong. Though it was till obama that the us activley wanted the eu not to rearm so they had more influence. Also there was no reason before. But yeah now we have to. Since russia on one side. US on the other and idiots everywhere

    7. Karash770 on

I mean Trump&Vance have been pretty much calling us that to our faces, so my outrage is mild, to say the least.

    8. The Trump administration has achieved a level of European unification that we couldn’t accomplish for years. You have to give them that.

    9. Shoddy_Squash_1201 on

I am pretty sure the Trump Admin openly said that, many times, even before the leaks.

    10. Lopsided-Farm4122 on

So they said in private what they have been saying in public all along? Trump’s administration calling Europe weak is not new. Trump’s administration whining about how they want Europe to pay more isn’t new. Trump’s administration thinking of themselves a the protector of Europe isn’t new. They’ve been saying it loud and clear for awhile now.

    11. Ok_Snow_2079 on

And the European leaders (all the western leaders, really) have been ridiculing Trump mercilessly since 2016.

I will never forget that time when Trump tried to negotiate trade deals with individual EU countries and they literally had to sit him down and whip out colourful, laminated playing cards to explain to him how the EU works as if he was a child with a learning disability.

It’s probably one of the reasons why Trump tries to dominate all the US allies.

      It is what it is.

It is confirmed. What they say behind europe’s back is the same they said to its face 😂

      > Now Europe Knows What Trump’s Team Calls It Behind Its Back: ‘Pathetic’

      We already knew, though.

Trump and Vance are totally aligned with the so-called “jokes” US citizens make at “Europoors”.

We also knew that they totally incompetent, like this type of people.

    14. If i remember correctly from the article, it was ‘PATHETIC’. He didn’t want to leave any doubt.

    15. JarJarBot-1 on

To be fair the US also calls Europe freeloaders to their face as well. It’s not like the leak was some revelation about sentiment towards Europe.

    16. RusTheCrow on

To be fair, I think Vance would be perfectly happy to say that to our faces too.

    17. colinmcm2702 on

Time to just cut ties with the scummy yank Trump lovers. New trade deals with Canada and others. Let them rot with Putin.

    18. Bango-TSW on

Yet which country is the only one to invoke NATO’s Article 5?

    19. cirillogiuseppe1 on

it’s not the first time it happened remember the:”fuck the eu” of the Nuland democrats btw , they are all the same , drop the militaty orders wee don’t need their crap

    20. NoxAstrumis1 on

I’m not sure this was any great surprise. It’s just more of the same from team toddler.

    21. ohnosquid on

The EU is one of the most, if not the most successful economic and political supranational organization in human history, calling it pathetic can only be done by a fool.

    22. UberiorShanDoge on

If the US ever has fair elections again and a non MAGA wins, they’ve got to put some of these people away in prison before anyone else can trust them again. They’re just running the geopolitical moves* of the former most powerful country in the world over a group chat. It’s insanity.

    23. ihadtomakeajoke on

Maybe Europe should prove Trump’s team wrong by setting up a defense agreement with UK, approving ammunition to Ukraine, and using frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine.

    24. Wingedball on

The article is about Western European countries relying on America to defend the shipping route going through the Red Sea.

Despite the route being the predominant route that the EU uses to trade with Asia, there are American and British warships that are deployed and provide protection for the ships going through this shipping lane.

Maybe it shocks some of the Redditors here, but one of the main criticisms of EU’s tough guy rhetoric was that they did little to counter the threat in the Red Sea, despite it affecting their primary interests. With all the talk of rearming Europe, and decoupling from America, yet again they rely on America when it matters.

    25. Surely even the most naïve aren’t suprised too much. I’d say, much stronger expressions are used too. We’ve only seen a tip of the iceberg.

But this is a failure on the US’s part – losing your allies, your influence and credibility in a matter if days will take years to build.

I wouldn’t be suprised that eventually Trump and his lackies will end up hanged for treason. I cannot describe it any other way.

    26. thedayafternext on

How can Trump or Vance call anybody pathetic. Trump pisses on paid for pornstars and has a mail order bride.

      Vance.. well, he’s Vance.

And I bet they think Russia/Putin is strong daddy.

    27. Heypisshands on

What do you think most european leaders say behind trump teams back. What do you think euopean leaders say about each other behind their backs.

    28. Heythere23856 on

Usually the ones throwing the insults are the insecure pathetic children

    29. Overburdened on

I mean we are. Just the fact alone that we still treat that nation of traitors and cowards as an ally, allow their bases on our soil and buy weapons from them proofs that.

They are allied to Russia now and we do nothing about it. They are playing with Ukraine and Ukrainian lives and we do nothing about it. They will take over Greenland and we will do nothing about it. They want to take over one of our and their greatest allies, Canada and we will do nothing about it. And the list will go on and we will do nothing about it.

    30. AstroFlippy on

It’s not like the US BFFs in Saudi Arabia caused the mess in Yemen, and Trump messed up the relationship with Iran by quitting the nuclear team. Freedom of navigation wouldn’t even be an issue in that region if it weren’t for Trump’s incompetence. European freeloading my ass.

    31. ElkSuch7874 on

Pathetic as in free education, safe streets at night, almost no crime, cheap food, good salaries, no school shootings?

    32. Polyglot_ocelot on

Yes, well it’s hardly surprising since we, in the UK as an example have spent years fawning over our “special relationship” like a starstruck little fangirl, rather than admitting we let this get out of hand a long time ago.

It’s like being happy the bully isn’t beating on you because you give him your lunch money.

It has been pathetic and the sooner we take ownership of that, have a bit of a rethink about alliances as well as self reliance for defence and decisively move forward, the better.
