Viviparous lizard, Irelands only native reptile.

    4. Christ on a bike, have you been living under a rock your entire life? Oh no wait, if you were you’d probably had seen a common lizard before…

Honestly I glazed over the title and thought it said “Yappa Pai”

Me: “The strapmaster Jimmy Hart is posting on r/ireland”

I love that you said hello to the lizard. I would do exactly the same.

St. Patrick lied to us then, who would have thought, a religious person telling lies.

    8. Just don’t take them by their tails, they can self-cut em to run if they are scared.

Looks like a newt to me. I remember when my dog was a pup he swallowed one whole and then vomited it back up and the newt was still alive! I picked him up and put him outside.

They’re from the Salamander family and are the only tailed amphibians found in Ireland. Yes I Googled that.

I’d completely forgotten about these. I originally thought we only had those slow worms in the Burren but someone posted one of these in a local (fingal) wildlife group a few years ago.

    14. It’s a Common newt, It’s a protected species in Ireland, meaning it’s illegal to kill, injure, capture, disturb, possess, or trade them. ps .. tasty as feck
