“Four of the five parties elected to Greenland’s parliament agreed to form a new government on Thursday, banding together amid U.S. President Donald Trump’s effort to annex the island, local media reported.

The agreement was reached ahead of Vice President JD Vance’s arrival on the Arctic island on Friday.

He and second lady Usha Vance are expected to visit the Pituffik Space Base on a scaled-back version of a trip that had angered officials in Greenland and Denmark.”

Trump admin being the great unifier of the rest of the world again. Nobel peace prize very soon.

Or… Greenland resolves internal political challenges. In other news, vice president of hostile neighbor accompanies wife to Greenland after realizing a solo visit would simply be awkward.

Trump being an asshole doesn’t make Denmark less colonialist. They did eugenics on Greenland and now they blackmail them into remaining with them. Greenlanders themselves want to be independent but they know that without Denmark they can’t feed themselves

If I were a greenlander, i’d want to know what is on the table.

How much are they offering? 10 billion, 100 billion, 1000 billion.

At more than 250, i would consider selling it all.

There is something wild about a political official making an announced visit to walk around the country or territory that they have openly expressed a willingness to invade.

Chillax Newsweek. Yes, Greenland was without a government, but that was following the recent election. Totally normal procedure for it to take a few weeks to agree on policies and form a government. Also, there was never any chance of a government not being formed, the only question was how broad a coalition it would be.

There should be mass protests when his plane lands in Greenland. And bring some eggs to welcome them.

    10. Seems a bit wild to call regular government forming negotiations “a political crisis”

    11. will_holmes on

Solves political crisis, also known as forming a government shortly after an election.

Greenland should jail him when he lands because he’s literally a threat to national security.

Can we ban Newsweek? Their articles are really bad and they get spammed so much.

    14. What political crisis? They had an election and the different parties entered into negotiations to create a new government. That’s completely normal and NOT a crisis.

    15. Matchbreakers on

There was no political crisis, they were just forming a government after the election. Completely normal.

The Marine hat bitch boy Vance has must be for “Quickest to cower under a table”

    17. Through a US lens it’s impossible to imagine the normal forming of a coalition government. Even so crisis is the wrong word. And Vance is a fucking cunt.

I am amazed that Trump et al are so deluded that they believe that other countries would welcome America invading and taking over their country.

    19. DodSkonvirke on

What political crisis!? an election is not a political crisis!!

Vance landed in Pituffik AFB – it translated to: the place we tie our dogs.
I am not here to tell you to make meme’s or anything…

Somebody tell Vance you cant buy land or people like that anymore. I’m sure it runs in the family, but not anymore.

Nothing has been solved. This means nothing in the US-Greenland conflict.

    23. ThumblessThanos on

If Greenland forming a government over a period of a couple of weeks constitutes political crisis, what do we call the 4-year rolling circus performance that is the US presidential transition period?

    24. Econ_Orc on

Multi party governments in Denmark (and Greenland) usually signs an “understanding commitment document” that binds the parties to a mutual understanding of what the government wants.

So what is the 4 parties agreeing to since the article apparently asked Vance and he does not give a shit?

To fight for Greenlandic indepence in the future when it is economically feasible.

In short a thumbs down to the Trump management rhetoric of Greenland becoming USA.

The result of mixing the imperialism and capitalism mindset.

When you go to other countries you’re not visiting. You’re making a wishlist.

Wouldn’t be the first time the USA illegally annexed an island…. At least this one doesn’t have any royalty.

US and A envoys: “We are going to visit your country like it or not.”
Said country: “The F you are!”
      I love them Greenlanders 🙂
