      >The letter, sent by the American embassy in Paris, stated that Trump’s executive order applied to companies outside the US if they were a supplier or service provider to the American government, according to a person familiar with the matter.

      >The embassy also sent a questionnaire that ordered the companies to attest to their compliance. The document, which the Financial Times has seen, is titled “certification regarding compliance with applicable federal anti-discrimination law”.

      >The document says “Department of State contractors must certify that they do not operate any programs promoting DEI that violate any applicable anti-discrimination laws and agree that such certification is material for purposes of the government’s payment decision and therefore subject to the False Claims Act.”

      >The documents appear to signal that the Trump administration is widening its campaign against DEI to foreign companies after launching a crackdown against US media groups such as Disney.

      >A senior banker in Paris said he was shocked by the letter. “It’s crazy . . . but everything is now possible. The rule of the strongest now prevails.”

      First, if they actually knew what they were talking about, they would know that DEI initiatives never took root in France.

      Second, if they were not arrogant, they would not think that their rules apply in France.

      Third, if they were sane, they would not do any of this.

      In Ireland if you ask someone to do something and they respond with an ‘I will, yeah’ it means no. There’s usually only a tinge of sarcasm detectable so a lot of visitors to the place can miss it and take it at face value.

      France needs to respond with ‘We will, yeah’ and then do nothing. Let Trump and co think they’ve won some great victory while France keeps on doing it’s own thing.

      There is no DEI in colorblind France. France does not legally recognize the existence of minorities. In France, you are either a French or a non-national. Per Article 1 of the French constitution.

      But of course, who would expect Trump and his stooges to even bother to do the most basic of research.

      Hiring people based on being of different ethnicity or religion etc is an American thing. European companies don’t care for that. They hire you if they need you, not to win some brownie points.

      For someone who’s been pointed (and bitchy) about proclaiming not only the US sovereignty but also his own sovereignty as president he sure doesn’t mind trying to encroach on everybody else’s sovereignty.

      I guess Europe can ban US companies from competing here because of insufficient DEI policies.

      As of now that would be all of them I guess? No more Facebook, X, Google etc.
