This literally is what it would take to be acknowledged.

That’s a creative way to draw attention to their cause! What specific issues are they highlighting?

I absolutely agree that lack of support EU has shown for the protests in Serbia, is shameful. As Europeans its our duty to support all anti-authoritarian initiatives.

However, what is an “endgame” of those protests? What is there to support? Protesters don’t seem to have any platform to get elected on and they are openly non-violent. How is such protest meant to change anything?

You either use system’s institutions against it, and work with pre-existing framework or you topple the government by force. You think that psychopathic criminals rulling the Serbia now will just “give up” because you done a demonstration here and there?

And no, its not like Milošević. He was moron and a troglodyte, relying on brute straight and small clique of mobsters and terrorists to stay in power. Vučić is completly different caliber of ruler with robust state and apparatus behind him.

If Serbian protesters want acknowledgment, they should present viable way to force though thier postulates.

I’ve asked my Serbian friends but no serious answer.

Seriously, why is the EU responsible for having an opinion on this? What is the demand of the protesters to the EU?

I think Europeans are very jaded from intervening in Balkan politics. NATO intervened because there was a literal war. Right now, you just have a shitty government. What can an outside entity realistically do? Help topple a democratically elected government? EU-backed coup-d’etat?

A waste of time, the EU is aware of the protests. At best they don’t care, at worst they support Vučić so they can get their paws on the lithium. Vučić could start running over protesters with tanks, and he wouldn’t even get a strongly worded letter from the EU.

I’d wish the protestors would realize that the EU is no better than the USA, Russia or China. Colonizers that want Serbia to be a country run by a dictator that will let foreigners exploit both the land and the people for their own gains.

Hundreds of thousands of ppl protesting against vucic’s regime… EU could at least stop financing vucic’s autoritarian regime and maybe even sanction him and his corrupt cronies?

This is what the youth of serbia hopes. That EU on its moral highground of democracy will support their pleas for more democratic values. Rather then turning a blind eye to rampant corruption and decline in european values in a country that is a potential future eu member.

Will ppl of serbia will be on their own to fight vucic who is financed by all. Russia through gazprom, china through investment building, and EU through their credits…

Is lithium more important to EU than their democratic values? Are they ready to keep him in power just so he can sign all the documents they need him to? Are they democratic union or colonists looking for small countries to exploit for resources and cheaper labour force? We will see soon.

Vucic’s cronies and foolish ppl who follow them also must ask themselves is money more important than ecology, clean waters and health? Im afraid of these answers.
