I suspect a Blue Wave, though. None of this Canada, Greenland, Trump Gaza Resort, Panama Canal, Pro-Russia anti-Ukraine/NATO bullshit was in Trump’s campaign trail rhetoric because he would have been shunned even by his own media.       Years ago we used to mock Americans for being stupid but the counterpoint was that they had the best universities with the brightest people and leaders that were from these elite.       Can someone ELI5 where this “China and Russia are planning to take over Greenland” narrative comes from? Are there even chinese or russian boats nearby? I googled the aubject but came out empty. All the results were about the US using the argument and not its origin.

      Why would anyone trust the US over China? China isn’t the one who constantly invades other countries for their resources, it doesn’t depose democratically elected leaders, and it’s not at constant risk of turning into a fascist hellscape every four years. Hell, even if you don’t like China, at least they’re a stable partner that openly talks about why they do what they do.

      It’s bizarre how the US is just tossing away its decades-old soft power and (already declining) global hegemony for short term gains. Who knew that when imperialism came home it’d look like a bunch of fucking morons.
