He wants every single EU nation to be ruled by far-right parties who treat him like a God.
If they think Europe is obsolete, they wouldn’t be pinning so hard for it to be dead, it’ll happen automatically with time. Instead it shows the very opposite, them wanting it dead means they are afraid of it succeeding.

Because it’s all ego based, Trump likes to enjoy acting like we’re still in the late 1700s Imperial era. That’s why he is always so easily charmed by the Monarchy in the UK. It’s also why he thinks random acts of land grabbing seem perfectly plausible. But he doesn’t read for shit so isn’t familiar with the level of catastrophe that idealogy has engendered in the past.
The EU is a trading bloc which can operate with strength equal to the sum of all of it’s parts. That makes it more powerful than if they were just opereating as individual entites. Like the UK is finding out., it’s far better to form a pack, than to be the lone wounded gazelle.
Also the EU sad enough to say, is the last standing bulwark against predatorial capitalistic methodoligies, with EU rules gone; Apple, Google, and all the other massive corporations will find it easier to call the shots inside singular devolved entities.
The strongest signal that should be given from the UK would be requesting an opening for re entering the EU.
