Are you calling Trump a liar…?
If no security guarantee that includes EU, I would run from any deal. Trump is just going to change his mind immediately an you get nothing (worse than nothing).
Even if they had NATO membership, not way Trump / America won’t veto the articles … you need actual bodies as tripwire for a decade until UA can defend itself and is integrated.
What they really need after security is moderate is EU membership with UA in EU military.
There should never have been talks of a mineral deal, that’s just bullying an ally that’s already struggling with a full scale invasion.
