They just started mobilizing again during the Trump’s fake “negotiation” stalling.

He seems like a smart guy tbh. He’s pragmatic and comes from a conservative country and he knows their advantages ; anti Russia, perceived Scandinavian. Those two can really make the difference to an American audience let alone his amazing CV. Evident by the article description

Putin, Trump and Orban to jail as soon as possible. The world would be a better place.

If Trump is most comfortable on the golf course, this is a prime time to have an honest conversation with him. Instead of golfing, Finns used to take these people to the sauna to relax – and have an honest conversation. As a Finn, I’m likely biased in my opinion, but I think Stubb is showing diplomatic skills. At least much better than writing in X or another platform.

Trump plays to his current audience. He’ll meet another leader next week and will be singing a different tune.

Putin just got fresh money yesterday as an oligarch had a shooting accident.

Russia is running out of time, if Trump keeps the oil price as low as it is now. But that will take about 2 years iirc to cripple them, so…

Sanctions won’t work. Russia is positioning Trump as the useful idiot that he is.

    9. I believe it when I see it. The leaked signal chat reveals that not only does this administration personally dislike Europe but actively wants to harm it. Just look at their discussion around bombing Yemen. The US benefits greatly from the channel being open and safe but because Europe would also benefit they didn’t want to do it.

      >Despite that perilous combination and a bitter history of 30 Russo-Finnish wars, the frontier remains quiet and Finns sleep soundly in their beds; in fact, their country has been ranked the happiest in the world in 2025 – for the eighth year running.

It’s strange to read this in the article, even though Finland joined NATO in 2023 following the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Not so relaxed with Russia, Finland…

So happy i’m moving away from Finland. Please keep your kokoomus, unemployment rate, and be happy in your solitude.

interesting read up to this point: „[…] I think we need to ask for a reverse-Kennedy: ask not what the Americans can do for you, ask what you can do for America.“
america is and may hopefully still be an important partner of europe in the future. but it’s absolutely inevitable that europe finally does its own homework and grows up to a level that it‘s not possible to be shoved around at will of other powers. europe needs to become a true power itself for the sake of itself. this will not be an easy task because of the multipolar nature of europe. but it‘s worth it to protect own interests against malignant interference.

Gee, I hope he doesn’t believe him…trump will say anything, sometimes two different things in one paragraph.

      >discover how Finland has managed to crack the problem of living alongside Russia without being invaded

Russia wants to take back all of the Soviet era countries first. That’s how.

Trump is 100% closer to RF than UA.

He is now without question a Russian asset or agent. He has directly adopted RF foreign policy goals on the explicit demands of Russia. I can say this is certain, because when he returned from Moscow in the 80s, he took out an ad saying US should come out of Nato.

RF almost certainly has a hand in his election victory, both times.

Not only via a large network of influencers, social media campaigns, and bots, but also via direct hacks into the US election system. His cabinet is clearly filled with other RF assets.

Europe, we’re on our own and it’s time to wake up.

We say over here in Canada, Finns have ice running through their veins. Always composed.

No, Putin isn’t running out of time. I don’t see any timeline where trump takes a hardline stance with Russia. The last decade has shown this.

    20. rachelm791 on

Stubb is a very impressive and astute individual. Antagonising Trump is counterproductive, but having clear and firm
boundaries is essential. Stubb’s relationship going forward could go a long way with retrenching the wider relationship with Europe even if it is based on a transactional approach going forward.

At the end of the day narcissist’s seek supply in three ways. If someone like Stubb is admired by Trump he may be one of those routes to countering Putin and him being complimentary towards Trump could yield benefits for all. Doing business with Trump is not diplomacy it is psychotherapy.

Russia is running out of time before Trump throws a tantrum then throws in the towel.

Finland is now part of NATO, so while I doubt the US would do jack shit if Finland was threatened, the rest of NATO would be obliged to respond. Finland has so massive has massive issues with male suicide rates, maybe pissing In Trump’s pocket is just deflecting from some greater challenges on the home front.
