For context, Trump said he was imposing 10% baseline tariffs on all countries, so this is not him singling out the UK (which already placed 10% tariffs on goods from the US so this is just reciprocating that). Also, the rates he set for other countries/alliances were much higher (EU 20%, China 34%, Japan 24% for example). Basically, the UK are among the least impacted.

Finally the brits see the benefits of cosying up to the US

SO does this mean EU companies will move to the UK to get cheaper tariffs tot he US?

Seems like something they would do.

Am I the only one who thought that he looks like standing in front of the circus tent 🎪 he turned the United States in to?

Why is this fat lump of orange shit getting a state visit with royal family trimmings?

    7. Idk if they realize, the brand new car manufacturing facilities they hope to build will be almost fully robotized. Trump voter will hate it.

10% is nothing, they go could go to zero if both sides agree to it tomorrow

Lol at high EU tariffs, hè really wants to break it up huh. No other reason for a blanket tariff without considering the smaller EU countries.

Guess who really profits from all this.

I’m more worried about what the 35% tariff of Vietnam will do to their export-oriented economy. Unjustified cruelty.

Is the claim of the UK tariffing the US at 10% in any way justified?

I don’t believe so, but it’s the most obvious first question to ask.

And reading it correctly ” Trump announced 10% VAT for Americans buying from the UK ” 🤣

Look at the fucking state of him! I’ve seen SPAM fritters look healthier and more in control.

      Thats not that bad.

So how can I get my Italian amari from the UK, instead?

    16. So, basically, everything America imports is now at least 10% more expensive.

And that minimum 10% uplift is mainly going to be on Americans to pay.

      And that’s it?

Keen eye on the markets tomorrow. It’s going to be…… interesting.

    17. Trump pretending he cares about US workers yet he avoids paying anyone he contracts to do work for him.It is Trump and his fellow Oligarchs that are pillaging the USA. Wake up America FFS!

    18. Cote de ivorie is on there , of all countries, but NO RUSSIA, funny that isn’t it !

This goes to show you how artificial and capricious this whole tariff exercise is. If you kiss his orange arse, Trump might be “nicer” to you. In the end, you still lose everything, including your dignity and then your soul.

The UK isn’t really helping itself by buttering this egomaniac up with visits from royals because he’ll talk to his handlers, including Putin, and just bite your hand off with greater tariffs.

    20. waitingtopounce on

Wow! Compared to so many other countries, he must really like them.

    21. At this point this shit shouldn’t even be news because we all know that anything anybody does Orangeman will slap with tarrifs. I open the door to my room i get 20% tariffs.

    22. Alcol1979 on

Finally! It’s the sunny uplands of Brexit we were promised in 2016.

    23. Just wait until the Americans notice that all their temu, shein and aliexpress bullshit is suddenly 40% more expensive. They’ll also be real happy about their clothing and pharmaceuticals going up in price.

Trump acts like the resellers will just swallow the tariffs, but they don’t . The American people will pay for this.
