Well we have a lot of energy resources and a lot of fresh water and soon the Northwest passage will become available so we can use that

I like Canada but I would rather EU take the lead on this one.

    4. datafromravens on

The problem with that is canada has zero power. No one is going to do anything Canada says.

lead in what? Canada is a leader in NOTHING. These people are on crack

Carney is smarter than Trump. Good for Canada the US did not increase the tariffs on them even futher. Give them a little breathing room. But it this is up to date news, then Carney at least is smart. Opening up to more global coalition in trade will benefit Canada in the long run much more than following the lead of the lose canon neighbour country.

      Go Carney, O Canada.

Better no one “leads” and we are all equals, and Canada just needs to adhere to European regulations and done.

This is exactly what I expected when the US decided to take on the entire world at the same time. The US will be on the sidelines as the rest of the developed world form anti US trade pacts. Tariffs are dumb to start with, but if Trump felt he had to do it, and had any common sense, he should have worked on one nation or bloc at a time.

Canada should be concerned about being invaded and annexed. We used to say “he wouldn’t do that” about several of the things he did over the past months.

This is a great idea, beat Trump’s tariffs by simply making him irrelevant.

No offense, but how is an economy that’s 1.8% of the world economy going to “lead” anything?

Only the EU could do this ($19t) or USA once Trump is gone ($31t economy).

That’s all fine until the bills have to be paid or a military response is needed somewhere…then everyone decides the US is the right guy again.
We carry the water for such a massively disproportionate amount of the worlds needs and bullshit and get mostly grief in return.
Honestly, as a U.S. taxpayer I would very much like to see all these bloviating “leaders” take a shot at doing the jobs they have historically relied on us to do.
We’ll be right here when the shit hits the fan and you need us again.

Geez, just lay your share and knock of the complaining about reciprocal tariffs…fair is fair

Bold move from Carney, showing Canada’s ready to step up on the global stage! It’s refreshing to see a Canadian leader willing to fill leadership vacuum in trade policy rather than just reacting to it

A Canadian, UK, EU, Asian and Pacific Free Trade coalition sounds LOVELYYYYYY

Isn’t that what the US wants? Or is OP spreading propaganda?
