I made a mistake, it was over 40 years ago she made it. My mother is 53 and she was a child when she made it

My girlfriend is into crochet. She follows a lot of bulgarian Facebook groups for crochet. I think your best bet would be to make a post there, even if it’s in English, you should get adequate responses.

    3. That’s a veeery long stretch… I may have someone to ask.

Was your grandmother Bulgarian or her on vacation? (Trying to gauge if the pattern was issued in a local magazine or one of the German imports, before asking a relative if she’d seen it/have it.)

That said, if all else fails you should be able to ‘guess’ how it was made. Seems to be a fine thread and small hook. You’d need to make a flat circle in a number divisible by the number of pikos. And from there… it is a lot of trial and error.

are you sure that’s a pillow? it looks a lot like a crocheted grocery bag. They were really popular around communism. i made the same net pattern for mine, just stretchier to fit more stuff cuz i use it to get jars out of the basement. I think it was magic ring, 5 single crochet to make the bottom sturdier, chain 5, single crochet into the stitch , chain 5, single crochet into the stitch etc until you have 5 net holes, then keep on chaining 5 and single crochet into a net hole to finish it off.

the sunflower base is just a circle so I’d starts with a magic ring, do about 6 single crochets, then row 2 is 12, row 3 is 18, row 4 is 24, row 5 is 30 etc. just follow the multiplication table. don’t cut the yarn.

i can’t tell from the picture how the petals are made, but i don’t think they are individually made, rather it’s just one long strip that’s twisted to create the effect. so make one long strip that’s 3 rows orange brown, 2 yellow, 3 cream, twist it into place, get the yarn from the brown circle, start your final row around the circle , it looks 3 sc then a slip stitch to attach the bottom of the petal and repeat.

you have the original right there so if you want a 1:1 copy, count the stitches
