Not all cultural practices are deserving of respect. This goes for all cultures. People in Ireland used to think it was not the Catholic way to question a priest. We changed, too slowly to save a lot of people from abuse, but changed nonetheless. This isn’t the first traveller to break out of harmful cultural norms and hopefully won’t be the last. Well done to her.
Plenty of examples of people outside of the travelling community being ostracised by their family for reporting sexual abuse.

Yeah… travellers great bunch of lads. They’re so sound down this way that 3 houses of them have the other 57 houses in the the estate living in fear. I don’t understand where the bad rep comes from.
