“Un grafico sorprendente di Goldman che mostra il crollo nei passeggeri all’estero che arrivano negli Stati Uniti presumibilmente non in gran parte a causa delle tariffe ma a causa delle storie dell’orrore sull’incarcerazione casuale.”

“This is just horrifying! People are afraid to come to the U.S. because of all the stories about random arrests and lawlessness, not just because of the tariffs. This isn’t just an economic impact — it’s about human lives, it’s fear and pain that have become reality for so many. Where are we heading when a person can’t even feel safe arriving in another country? Such policies don’t just harm the economy, they destroy the very foundations of humanity!”

There have been several postings about how Canadians should be careful and should try to go for **pre-clearance**, so they stay on Canadian soil in case of problems.

If one would apply that logic to us in Europe, people should travel via **Dublin Airport** or **Shannon**, as that is one of the very few Airports we can get pre-clearance **while still being in the EU**.

edit added Shannon airport -thx to u/Cultural_Wish4933

I am not stepping foot in the US for the foreseeable future. A lot would have to change and a lot of time would have to pass for me to reconsider. There is nothing in that country that interests me.

Even during Biden, I was rather stressed whenever I was going to United States. I remember enjoying going to United States 10 years ago, but recently it became incredibly expensive. I sat for drinks with my friend once and for 2 drinks we paid $80 and were asked for 20% tip, in Berlin same drinks would be 30. Getting medical help may easily ruin you. Not to mention the crime. Now, with potential interrogation at the airports, changing rules every second, it’s just best to explore other places.

The UK is ready and willing to host the World Cup! Just sayin

    8. This is something that I am genuinely sad about.

As a kid, the US was a great place to vacation to, the dollar was low and cost of life had not exploded. It allowed, even during the bullshit that was Bush jr presidency to discover the amazing landscape of that country and it’s people without being in the top 10%.

Now, it is unlikely that my kids will be able to see the marvel of nature in the US. No political will to go back there and it is too expensive compared to other places in the world

It is going to get MUCH worse. There is still plenty of foreign travel to the US because of trios that were booked up to a year in advance. I would expect the very end of 2025 and 2026 to look much more bleak than what the numbers show right now. And that is merely for tourists worried about CBP.

Then, there is the real issue of many countries boycotting the US. Both their govs telling its citizens not to buy American and cjtizens in their own foregoing anything American. This was mostly due to the threats against Canada, Denmark/Greenland, etc, but is widening because of the tariff implementation, news about refusal to abide by NATO article 5, etc.

And if the tariffs don’t get resolved, you can add a total cessation of business travel to the list as most large multinationals will ban any non-essential travel.

I see very little possibility of things improving anytime soon. Far more likely that we are looking at a fairly ling period of depresses travel demand.

Come on guys. It’s not so bad.

You might get a free trip to El Salvador out of it.

I lived there for decades. Haven’t been back in over eight years. Eventually I’ll have to go back; I have friend who are getting old, and I have social security coming, which I might not be able to request online anymore. I’m really, really not looking forward to that…

I never really wanted to travel to the US, but now I’m certain I’ll never visit US in my life.

    13. SwingingPilots2000 on

This isn’t about boycotting the US or its tourism industry. It’s about common sense. Any foreign national entering the US can be arbitrarily detained and incarcerated, for no reason whatsoever. Why would anyone go there for tourism?

I’m Australian and there’s no fucking way I’ll return to the USA anytime soon. I’ve been there many times but you guys are dangerous.
