While we probably shouldn’t be doing a “giveaway”, nothing guarantees a recession like austerity, higher taxes and cut spending will only worsen the situation
There was a budget giveaway planned?
We shouldn’t accept austerity again. We still have a tax that was introduced as a temporary measure, will we see another added that will stay long after any recession? More measures to take more from the less well off, squeeze the middle more, while the rich ride it out, again?
I’d say at this stage it would be a complete fluke of good fortune if we somehow avoid a deep recession.
There’s likely to be something very close to a market crash this afternoon.
Any kind of giveaway budget would be utterly insane in the context of what’s going on.
We don’t need austerity measures though — just keep the wheel steady and avoid the big orange spray tanned icebergs on the horizon.
Time for the public service to stop wasting our money too. There’s been a massive increase in public spending with little to show for it.

I thought FFG had been saving for a rainy day? The clouds are forming and their leaking the idea of austerirty to test the waters. For fuck’s sake.
The Crash, COVID, Ukraine and now Crash 2.0. Cant wait for the government to use this an excuse as to why they wont do anything of significance for the next 15 years, even though we have this rainy day fund which they have refused to use on anything of merit.
