It should be entirely banned and steps should be taken to prevent students using it for assignments, it’s highly dangerous to the development of our kids and should not be tolerated

It should be an outright ban on it’s use.

How many reports need to come out about how using it is impacting peoples critical thinking before we can finally just outright ban it. It shouldn’t be encouraged, either from students or teachers. the LLMs can’t be trusted to give accurate answers or assessments.

The simple answer is to remove project work and go back to exams in a controlled environment being how you do tests. Being in a room with only a pen and paper is the only way to guarantee fair testing.

Thanks for all the insightful comments saying it should be banned. Very useful. How? How are they going to moderate this? Mandatory that assignments get parsed through an AI checker? They’re also powered by AI (and don’t work) so there goes all your suggestions banning teachers from using AI.
Googling something generates an AI approximation now. PowerPoint has AI features inbuilt. Windows has a button just for AI. It’s gotten into everything.
The option to “ban” it doesn’t exist, hence the conundrum.

If we don’t control it then critical thinking will be rarer than rocking horse shite in about 2 decades.

Are the likes of turnitin etc good enough to spot the use? AI wasn’t really a thing doing my post grad a few years ago.

In 6th year this year, it has completely changed how projects work with 90% of the year using it for their projects

Shocking that our government are late to respond to something…. absolutely shocking…I can’t believe it!

All my pupils use AI, so I put all their work through AI which generates feedback.
