The fact that the EU is still holding back just makes me feel 10x worst because you can tell Europe doesn’t want to do anything to hurt its allies while our president is going nuclear on everyone….

It sucks.
I would love to see open talks between EU, Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, Mexico and other big countries together with China on how to nuke US economy with 50% tariffs and taxes on their Tech giants. Or at least threaten US with it, because they would have to back down.
It would basically force Republicans to take away toy tariffs from Trump.
The issue is, that we still kinda need US, even though they are led by complete moron.

I think dropping the tariffs on bourbon is a mistake.
Although we took all usa liquour completely off the shelves, we got the most reaction out of bourbon. Two of the four republican senators that recently voted to remove tariffs from Canada came from kentucky, and the main reason was the bourbon.
I get it though, you want to save your industries as much as possible so I am not here to criticize. Maybe you will be better off not hitting them back where it really hurts or maybe the voluntary boycott will be effective?
Mundane185 on
The EU can drop tariff but if more & more people start boycotting US products & support local products instead then not a lot of things will change
medium1080 on
Come on guys. How long do you think the US can survive those tariffs anyway? China will definitely refuse to lower their own tariffs which means that from tomorrow on the US will pay an additional 104% on imported chinese goods. That alone would be an industry killer. But add the tariffs on basically ever imported product and they are fucked. What does that cost on average? everything 30, 50, 70% more expensive over night? Could you even imagine that? After half a year america will be burning and Trump dangles on a tree. Those counter tariffs aren’t gonna change a thing about that either way. If anything we protect our own citizens and industries from disadvantages and we don’t deliver a shallow basis for trump to claim why it would have worked otherwise. America is fucked, they allready lost their world leader position and next year they probably gonna lose their petro-dollar too. If anything we have to prepare for a US that lost all its power except for their military. Relax, let time deliver the final blow

All the people wanting an actual economic war.. calm your tits. This is for the grown ups to handle.
Yes there is inter EU politics at work.. and it’s good news the EU still has the ability to take specific member requirements and worries into account.
This is not bending the knee. Even doing nothing would not be bending the knee.
Trump is busy taxing the snot out of his own population.. and people here are calling for our politicians to do the same.. wtf.
Let them handle it.. let cooler heads take the time and make the right plays. Instead of shooting from the hip and getting it wrong.

So essentially Trump was right again. He must get tired of all the winning…but maybe not?
This just reveals that the EU is a sham in many ways, that it pretends to present a united front at first but as soon as nation states like Italian cheeses or French wines or German cars are threatened, all the ‘solidarity’ goes out the window and they give in almost immediately.
