I guess that’s China’s part of this plan. Russia’s economy struggles so Krasnov forces tariffs on everyone especially China making them push their goods towards every other market and destroy the manufacturing sectors there.
EU, you need to grow a pair and fight like CHINA against the USA Tariffs.

I increasingly feel that the best would be to retaliate only on the services/tech front since the tarrifs on goods are already damaging the US more than us. At the same time we should minimise trade barriers within the EU and with other countries to reduce the impact of these tarrifs even more.
With China we have to be careful. We should welcome the flood of Chinese goods when it comes to commodities which is good for consumer prices but have to increase our own tarrifs when our industries are under threat or where strategic dependencies increase.

Just need to look at what happened to Canada to see how this would end. China slapped Canada with tariffs as well in retaliation.

Let’s be real. China is the only one taking the US head on. Everyone else including the EU is being wishy washy at best.

How embarrassing for us…

What if US decides to send weapons to Russia as retaliation? EU is playing with fire here.

EU seeking China’s help is embarrassing

Don’t change the wording. The true headline is “The EU caves to US pressure immediately and begs China to stop the trade war America initiated as Meloni and EU leaders rush to the White House”.
Just yesterday I was commenting how pathetic the EU has been, it seems they can get even more pathetic and will not only stay quiet, but even ally with the US against Canada, Denmark and China in an instant given the chance.
At this rate I can already tell in a few years Europe will be conquered by far right movements, if they are this numb about such an impacting issue, I can’t imagine how numb must EU politics be regarding the daily concerns of its citizens. Extremist movements must be the only ones not advocating for “playing adults” as this sub seems to call “do absolutely nothing especially if it upsets the US”.

The article is about combatting together the effects of very cheap goods from the really low tariffed countries from affecting the markets of countries that got slapped with ones that have something like 30% to 200% tariffs. It’s not really a deal with the devil here.

I love how these articles are *always* framed to make the EU (or a european country) appear weak and subservient. While a reporting of the same event from the US or UK would get a much stronger headline like “UK in talks with China to forge a pact for containing Trump’s trade war”.
Jesus I feel for the French. Absolutely everything they do gets reported like this in anglophone media, and I’m not sure most people get that it’s a thing.

Well the pure idiocracy of trump and his administration somehow managed to get the europeans to say ”well maybe china isn’t such a bad chap after all”
