To be clear: This is the retaliation for the tariffs imposed on march 12 on steel and aluminium, not the new blanket tariffs!

Why are airplanes and airplane parts not on the list? Seems like a no brainer to me:
* It’s one of the largest US exports to EU;
* We have a European alternative in Airbus; and
* It’s a key industry you’d like to foster at home because of national security concerns.

I’m in full support of retaliation.
But the EU better have a plan to stop the extremism and radicalization that will ensue from the recession / debt crisis that Trump is creating.

Yes. The EU is thinking through the repercussions, preparing some very basic plans on how to implement and what to do to mitigate the fallout, and because the EU knows damn well this shit is fucking toxic, retains the position of: We defend, we do not attack. For these reasons, the EU responds a few weeks later. This is good.
Trump just thinks of some lunatics whilst taking a shit, tweets it out, and his goosestepping administration signs this shit into law without a care in the world as to how to enforce it, what it even means, let alone what the repercussions are.
But, the EU acts and acts as swift as is reasonable. I really don’t think it’s wise to start thinking the EU should go even faster. Because that’s “yell out stupid things whilst taking a dump” territory.

Trump won’t like this retaliation. It goes against his Narcissism. I hope Europe reverses these as his rage will be something catastrophic. It will really hurt his feelings. I think they need to pander more like the UK so he has an enjoyable day. Starmer can show them how to get their nose right up there.

The best retaliation would be to agree free trade between a large number of countries excluding the US and just ignore them
Nobody is going to win a trade tariff war, it’s madness

Americans are about to find out that they were benefitting the most from the previous economic agreements.

Most of the new products under tariffs are produced in Republican states, the EU is targeting Trump’s base.
