      Here what you need to do when traveling to most countries including the USA and Canada:

      * Delete all pictures, files, and documents from your phone and store them in a cloud account.
      * Delete any cloud apps, or accounts so that nothing can get downloaded to your phone until after you pass customs.
      * DO NOT USE BIOMETRIC LOCKS as legally they can force you to use them. Instead use a passcode.
      * Turn your phone completely off before you get to customs and again when you land.
      * Do not provide any passwords to customs, if forced to then type it in yourself, don’t share it.
      * Clear any email history that is anything other than vacation plans.
      * Disconnect any and all social media accounts from your phone. Better yet delete the apps entirely.

      It’s so funny that out of 5.900,000 tourist the USA receives in a year there have been like 10-15 cases of phone checked and you guys are hyperventilating, every country searches phones if they suspect you of something, while applying for a visa to UK I was asked to note down all my social media accounts, I guess it’s only bad when the USA does it

      This is normal in lots of countries. You don’t have to unlock your phone and they don’t have to let you into the US.

      If they do this in plain sight, imagine what it’s being done with your data hosted by US services behind closed doors

      Sorry folks this is a non story.

      This has happened to me before up to 7 years ago, I’ve had my phone checked going to the US from Dublin 

      It’s also happened to my American friends coming over to Ireland long before this whole recent political shift.

      Hey Europeans, please don’t come here. There’s no such thing here as freedom of speech anymore. We are under a totalitarian/dictatorship government. This tyrannical government has no respectfor the laws. They will lock you up and ship you off to El. Salvador, be warned! Please wait 4 years.
